Surprise in Hilldale Mall

I was skeptical when my mom suggested an Asian restaurant inside Hilldale Mall, but I was pleasantly surprised. Dumpling Haus is a casual restaurant but the food is far from. The quality is a huge step up from standard Chinese takeout, which also means you'll pay a bit more. As one man wrote in his... read more

I was hoping for more of a dim sum experience, but pretty much all boiled dumplings, taste and texture pretty much all the same...had the shrimp, soup dumplings and one of the pork ones which tasted just like the soup one. The peanut noodles were the highlight. Loved the texture of the noodles.

Visited this place about 3 times during our stay in Madison. My wife loves soups and this place offers great selection in noodle soups. Ambiance is good and restaurant has an open kitchen, which is nice. We tried all the dumplings and soup and liked everything we ordered. It may not be the best Chinese food I have eaten, but... The Dumpling Haus is our FAVORITE restaurant and our favorite item on the menu is the Pork Haus Soup!! This delicious broth soup with noodles comes with pork pieces on the bone that just fall off when you take a bite. The flavor of the broth is our favorite part. It is a big bowl and we can never finish... More

Cool white modern space, seems to be a family operation. The place is abuzz with movement, the soups are rich and delicious, I had the pork with a rich broth base. Pot stickers are some of the best I have ever had, I went old school pork, you can have them fried or steamed. Portions are big so come hungry,... More

Upon telling the server behind the counter that I was very hungry, and I wanted a full meal, it was suggested to me that I should purchase a plate of pot stickers for 9 dollars. I assumed that this "meal" would come with rice, or at least one side. I was very disappointed when my plate arrived with 8 pot... More

The Dumpling Haus is the only place for dim sum in Madison, but wish it was better. It's not nearly as good as it could be. That said there are some good and fresh noodle choices worth trying.

I feel like this is great, authentic asian food. Unlike most chinese restaurants, their food is NOT deep-fried, and it is made fresh to order. It is probably one of my favorite places to eat. I highly recommend the Haus Bao Zi!

We have frequented the Dumpling Haus frequently and love their Jiao Xi dumplings and Edamame. The food has been fresh tasting and well prepared. If in the Hilldale shopping area, we would recommend for quality food. Order at the register and the food is delivered to your table.
