Sharp Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese with Lavender Jam? So Good!

43 North has a very creative and interesting menu that is also very flexible. Everything comes in small or large plates. I had Salmon Tartar (excellent, with a very nice sauce but I couldn't tell you what it was), a wonderfully fresh and understated greens salad with vinaigrette, a small dish of... read more

We decided to come here for an early dinner before a show at the Overture Center. We were delighted by everything that we ate. To start off, we had the Baked Dates with Goat Cheese, and they are wonderfully decadent! We had flavorful and original salads. a grilled Ceasar and a Turnip, Radish, Bacon salad. We had small plates of... More

We had a group of ten during graduation weekend, and although they don't accept regular reservations, they allowed us to make a reservation for a private room, where we were treated to excellent service and great food. We made a lot of good natured noise, and stayed past closing, but no one complained. In fact, when I tried to apologize... More

It's quite small - maybe a dozen tables - and we had the last table in the back. This allowed us to have quiet conversation over our leisurely meal. The menu is limited, but exceptional. They offer half or full orders, so it's set up for sharing. We started with some olives which were nice, and goat cheese stuffed dates... More

Spending a weekend in Madison with my adult son. Stopped at 43 North. Food was great & environment cozy. We had their special appetizer--foie gras and stuffed dates. Duck liver was good but stuffed dates were amazing. My son had a steak and I had scallops. Both were great!! I loved the option of a large or small plate. We... More

It was a beautiful spring evening and we had 8pm concert tickets at the Overture Center. We had been meaning to try Sushi RED for quite a while, so that was our initial plan. Unfortunately, they kept giving us misinformation about the waiting time (lost almost an hour before we caught on), so decided to try 43 North next door.... More

Small cozy ambience. We had a great wine (Landmark)to start the meal followed by the fabulous date appetizer and duck confit. Excellent waiter who advised us on the game hen which was very tasty and moist. I had small portion which was plenty. Lamb cassoulet and scallops also well liked. Dessert options a little less traditional, but the pavlova and... More

As with Mr. Muramoto's sushi restaurants (Sushi Muramoto and Muramoto's), you will not be disappointed with your selection. Never a problem to mix up the sides. Always a wonderful experience to eat here.

This was a pre-opera dinner, so didnt want to eat so much that I fell asleep during Sweeney Todd. Wish granted, establishment has small plates available. Started with before dinner drinks, and ordered a baguette plate to accompany dinner and soup/salad. Spouse had lobster bisque, we shared a bit, it was good-I had duck confit salad, bit heavy on cabbage,... More

I will admit up front, my review will be a bit harsh on what was a nice dining experience. The first thing that bothered me was arriving on time for a 5pm dinner reservation and not having the wait staff ready. We sat for about 10 minutes before our waitress come to our table and there were two tables seated.... More
