My new favorite place in Madison for couples or a date

It's quite small - maybe a dozen tables - and we had the last table in the back. This allowed us to have quiet conversation over our leisurely meal. The menu is limited, but exceptional. They offer half or full orders, so it's set up for sharing. We started with some olives which were nice, and... read more

Spending a weekend in Madison with my adult son. Stopped at 43 North. Food was great & environment cozy. We had their special appetizer--foie gras and stuffed dates. Duck liver was good but stuffed dates were amazing. My son had a steak and I had scallops. Both were great!! I loved the option of a large or small plate. We... More

It was a beautiful spring evening and we had 8pm concert tickets at the Overture Center. We had been meaning to try Sushi RED for quite a while, so that was our initial plan. Unfortunately, they kept giving us misinformation about the waiting time (lost almost an hour before we caught on), so decided to try 43 North next door.... More

Small cozy ambience. We had a great wine (Landmark)to start the meal followed by the fabulous date appetizer and duck confit. Excellent waiter who advised us on the game hen which was very tasty and moist. I had small portion which was plenty. Lamb cassoulet and scallops also well liked. Dessert options a little less traditional, but the pavlova and... More

As with Mr. Muramoto's sushi restaurants (Sushi Muramoto and Muramoto's), you will not be disappointed with your selection. Never a problem to mix up the sides. Always a wonderful experience to eat here.

This was a pre-opera dinner, so didnt want to eat so much that I fell asleep during Sweeney Todd. Wish granted, establishment has small plates available. Started with before dinner drinks, and ordered a baguette plate to accompany dinner and soup/salad. Spouse had lobster bisque, we shared a bit, it was good-I had duck confit salad, bit heavy on cabbage,... More

I will admit up front, my review will be a bit harsh on what was a nice dining experience. The first thing that bothered me was arriving on time for a 5pm dinner reservation and not having the wait staff ready. We sat for about 10 minutes before our waitress come to our table and there were two tables seated.... More

Went here on a Friday night. We really enjoyed our meal and the charcuterie plate with some additional cheeses were excellent. After that we split the cassoulet, which while a bit dry, was very tasty and not loaded with fat like we have had in the past. Great wine selection, and excellent service. They were running a special, which we... More

This is a nice little place and on a Wednesday night was not particularly busy. They have a small plate and large plate option for almost all entree's. This is a nice feature as it allowed us to vary the meal with appetizers and dessert without overeating. A nice selection of wines and pairings. The service was a bit slow... More

My wife and I stopped at 43 North for a quick dinner. We only had an hour before we had to leave to catch a movie at Sundance over at Hilldale. We started out the evening with two drinks; my wife had a speciality cocktail, and I had a tap microbrew. Two appetizers, the marinated olives and the salmon tartar,... More
