We had a late lunch here and it was very good. The salsa was excellent. I still love Pepperhead best but this is 2nd for Mexican in Cortez. The service was excellent with a very friendly waitress. There are some very interesting specialty items on the menu that I may try next time we go here.

Had a delicious lunch. Great quality Mexican food. Flavors perfectly executed in the four different dishes we had. Ended meal with a homemade flan with a soft and flavorful custard texture. Excellent customer service, very friendly. A definite stop next time in Cortez, Colorado.

We drove in from the Grand Canyon and check tripadvisor for a place to eat. We were hungry for some southwestern style food and this place did not disappoint. I had the carnitas which is one of my favorite dishes anywhere. This was hands down the best I have ever had!

We strolled in late one evening and we were great by a enthusiastic and very friendly young waiter. He was very interested in what brought us to their establishment. I must say the food was very good even for the late hour, the margarita was fantastic, and the service was amazing!!! Next time I'm in Cortez I will definitely visit... More

We rolled into Cortez hungry road tripping from the east in late afternoon planing to back track and catch Mesa Verde in evening so needed to eat fast. Brought up Trip Advisor to see what was available and El Burro popped up towards the top. We felt Mexican was in order so trusted Trip Advisor and went in. Nothing fancy... More

We went here for a late lunch based on the overall ratings. Frankly we don't know what others saw that we didn't. First, the waitress barely spoke to us. She came to the table, dropped the menus, and walked away without speaking. After that, words were few. As a previous reviewer said, the chips and salsa were good. She only... More

The food was great. This is a very small restaurant that all the food they serve they make there. They have the best homemade chips and salsa. From the out side it doesn't look like much but don't let that fool you. Very friendly and helpful. Try it.

The owner visits every table to chat. The service was fast. The food were excellent! Salsa rocks! We loved it so much and they served us a second salsa and chips when the first one disappeared from our table quickly. They allowed me to order two different kinds of enchilada from combination enchiladas which was good because I really want... More
