Historic BBQ Place

We drove by one day and I commented, "I bet that is a great BBQ place. It just looks the part." We went back to our hotel room and researched it online and saw all the celebrity reviews from over the years. We returned the next day. It is not much to look at, just an older diner, but with... read more

We ordered a pound of ribs, a pound of sliced beef and pork, slaw, beans, and a tamale pie. The five of us ate and enjoyed sharing it all. It was reasonably priced and they were very accommodating

I ordered ribs to go and they were really juicy with great flavor however I did not like the barbecue sauce at all.... It was runny and lacked that kick.... It was more like tomato sauce with a kick... Yuck, yuck, yuck.... F.Y.I. they're closed on Sunday & Mondays thanks to the business hours posted on the door so don't... More

I grew up in Hot Springs. I probably went to Mcclards three times a month for 25 years. I have not been there in a couple of years. I took my kids there for their first time tonight. The food was good. My tamale spread was just like it always has been. My waiter was OK. But there has obviously... More

We knew we were in the right place when we entered a very full and chattering place. We grabbed what seem to be the last table. The outside does NOT look appealing, but oh my the food and service was great. My husband had ribs and brisket with enormous sides. He really loved the ribs. tender and juicy and the... More

McLards is well know for it's barbecue and I did have the ribs and they were very good. Butthe show stopper was the order of tamales. First the mixture of Fritos, chili and cheese with some great pork tamales was a first for me. I cannot imagine someone making it any better!!! It's a must eat in Hot Springs!!!

A very casual restaurant, that has been around for years. There are people who have been eating here regularly for many of those years. It is those loyal customers who make the legend of McClard's BBQ. The food has no WOW factor, the building has seen it's better days, the service was friendly, but not exceptional. Yet the locals continue... More

Read about this place on Yelp so we decided to try it. We were there on a Wed. so hubby had the BBQ 1/2 chicken which he said was good. I had the chopped pork sandwich and that was big but dry so you have to put on the BBQ sauce. The sauce is a bit spicy-- I liked it... More

This tiny 1950's white stucco building looks like it's been there forever - and it has. I can't remember a time when McClard's didn't exist. Bill Clinton and Dan Rather chowed down in those very seats and their pictures decorate the walls throughout. BE WARNED - The restaurant is known for closing down for the entire month of August. Call... More

Was really disappointed that the food didn't live up to the hype. I had the Ribs and Fry basket. The ribs were dry with almost no smoke flavor or any other type of seasoning. The vinegar based sauce didn't help much. The ribs came with plenty of fries which were good. The wife had the sliced beef plate and commented... More
