Tamale heaven

Always heard about this place barbecue was okay a little to vinegary for my taste. But the tamales were great. Lots of stuff on the walls to keep you busy and our waiter Chris Frazze(?) was the best. Go check this place out!

Started eating here years ago on lake trips. Everything was the best; tamale spread, ribs or sliced beef. Returned last week after living away for two years. Flavor was not the same; now they are just average.

I hate to say it but my last visit was not as good as the times before. The meat just lacked something.

This is our third time to visit McClards. We both ordered the sliced beef plate which came with beans and slaw. The beef had no waste but was very tough. The cole slaw had to much mayo. The beans were good. This is a small local establishment that has a good following. Go there for the history but if you... More

This place was hyped as Bill Clinton's favorite BBQ. I had the ribs and I have to say it was too dry. The ribs did not fall off and it wasn't figure licking good. A lb of ribs with fries was 15.50. The waiter asked how I thought about the ribs. I said it was dry and he brought me... More

This place had some great BBQ. It's a seat your self kind of place and it gears busy in a hurry to get there early. Brisket, beans and coleslaw where awesome. Will be back again.

What can you say about McClard's that hasn't been said before? The tamale spread is unique and delicious, the ribs are perfectly cooked and the slaw and beans are the best. We always purchase extra tamale spreads to take home with us. They freeze well and make a great gift for our neighbor that takes care of our animals while we... More

I have gone to McClard's several times in my life and have to say that it is a good place to have BBQ, but the tamales are the star of the show. I usually get the chopped pork sandwich and ribs most times, and the meat is good but not the best I've ever had; could have a smokier taste... More

My family loves BBQ and as it was listed in 1000 Place to See Before You Die US Edition, we had to go. The place is very popular with groups waiting in the paths for tables to open up. We lucked out and got a booth for the five of us right away. Our server was great and our food... More

Went in for lunch and noticed one of their waitresses was missing Heard later that she had been "let go" because was "too slow" I find that very hard to believe because for years I watched two old ladies waddle around at a snails pace and no one said a word about it They were there forever! Leaves a bad... More
