Good But Pricy

I met ten other friends at Ophelia's for lunch. I had a bowl of soup and half a sandwich, and it was still expensive! The soup was good, and the sandwich was just ok. I suggested going there, but I won't be going back soon.

We really had high hopes for the resturant but we shouldn't have. If I had talked to the locals and not just check reviews we wouldn't have, but we didn't and ended up spending $100 for a meal we walked away feeling disappointed in. The resturant it self is very high class but the lack of patrons should have clued... More

This was a first time visit. Was interested in the "lump" crab cakes. Notice that the lump is in parenthesis. I was very disappointed in the crab cakes. They were about the size of a silver dollar. Being that size, there wasn't a hint of "lump" in it. The taste was average, but it was all breading. For $12, I... More

Hadn't ever been to Ophelia's before but we gave it a try based on the reviews we'd seen. First, the service we received was absolutely great. As for the food, first we had the smoked shrimp and grits appetizer, which was really good. Some of the best grits I've had and at all what I normally think of as grits.... More

Four of us stopped here for lunch after visiting the Harry Truman Museum and Library. The service is not the speediest but the food was worth waiting for. Two of us had salads and ordered the small size. When they came, they were huge. Could easily have feed two ladies. The guys in our group shared the smoked shrimp and... More

Sometimes a great restaurant can define itself by how it handles a tough situation- when they're short on staff, or when the food isn't quite right. When the establishment is poorly staffed, and poorly managed, it becomes crystal clear as well. This place is hurting (or at least it was yesterday) Our department (10 people) had lunch here yesterday and... More

This place was amazing from the Wine selection to dessert ! We met there after making reservations for a Saturday evening. Nice quiet atmosphere with a pianist playing great classic and soft Jazz tunes. The dishes we ordered were prepared to perfection and the aromas and savory flavor of each outstanding. The Smoked Shrimp and grits appetizer was the table... More

If you are looking for a fabulous meal while in Kansas City don't miss out on Ophelia's. It is a hidden treasure in the KC metro area, nestled in the quaint Independence Square. I have been here many times, mostly for lunch with friends, and it never disappoints. Recently my daughter was visiting from Chicago and we wanted to go... More

Having dined here several times, the food is always excellent, and the menu is varied. Four of us had dinner here on a Saturday evening. Nice setting, ample booth and live piano music. Our server was ready to take our order before we were even in the booth! He returned two minutes later to see if we had decided. We... More

My wife's birthday and our 34th wedding Anniversary. The Inn is very nice clean and large room stocked with drinks and snacks and all you would possibly need from tooth brush to shaving cream and razor even a sewing kit, nice flat screen television, nice setting area and desk and chair. Brunch on Sunday morning was awesome, as well as... More
