I have been here twice. They have a decent selection of GOOD brews and a small selection of German Food. It doesn't compare to the Minneaoplis German Restaurants but I didn't expect it to. It is quaint. Service was quick and attentive. I don't always like a lot of food for lunch but I didn't see 'small' servings or ala... More

Downtown Independence is Americana. The food at Rhineland injects a little bit of Germany into 1950s small town. Food is hearty, plentiful and inexpensive. My wife and I split the Jagerschnitzel, which is a a breaded pork cutlet with mushroom sauce, and we had Spätzle (like mac & cheese). It was MORE than enough for both of us.

The waitress answered all questions about the menu and wine list. The staff were all very friendly and the food was tasty.

I had wanted to try Rheinland out for a while and finally stopped in for lunch. I had high expectations but was just a bit disappointed. The food was good not great. I had a bratwurst and a knockwurst that were tasty along with wonderful kraut. My wife had a rueben that was nothing special. Prices are a bit high... More

My husband and I traveled to Germany and really wanted to taste some of the food again boy were we let down. There are (no joke) like 5 items on the menu. That's all you have to choose from. Now if they did these perfectly that might not be so bad, but sadly, no they didn't. So my hubby and... More

This is not your typical Independence Square restaurant. The food is flavorful, the people are friendly and the experience is always a great time. If it is St.Patrick's Day I am at Rhineland's fantabulous corn beef. Trust me I am not the only one who has stubble upon this secret. I have never walked out feeling hungry or wondering where... I emailed the restaurant in advance of arriving, to find out if they served gluvine (a spiced wine, served hot) and when they wrote back yes, the plan was laid to have dinner there one of our nights in the KC area. The food was excellent - jaegerschnitzel and spaetzel were both very flavorful - served quickly and nice and... More

The title of this review might be a little deceptive since this restaurant is about the only German eating place in the Kansas City area. However, after living in Germany (in the Rhineland area) for three years, we can attest to the fact it is very good German food. They could expand the menu some to include other German specialties...
