This is a quiet, white table clothed restaurant just off Alleppey beach. Prices are high for India, but you pay for the romantic ambience. Although the restaurant looks out onto the beach, by dinner time it is unfortunately too dark to enjoy what must be lovely views. Food is excellent (and there are helpful explanations of dishes for beginners!) and... More

Went to this place based on the Lonely Planet review as the best restaurant in town. The Raheem Residency were it is located is quite beautiful and the restaurant was beautiful as well but the food was average. I was very hungry as I had not eaten any lunch and ordered the fish curry and the chicken korma. The chicken... More

Disconcertingly empty and the waiters were often hard to locate but our veggie lunch for five was clearly cooked from scratch and was very tasty, so obviously a decent chef.

We had a fantastic night at Chakara. We had the best table- overlooking the beach, watching people have camel rides. We both had fish main courses for 350 rupee each, they were delicious! Staff were attentive but also gave plenty of space and privacy. Would definitely eat here again!

After few disappointing experiences in Kerala where food is supposed to be marvelous, I was really happy to discover this place. Ok, prices are on the high side but food is great. We ordered two kinds of fish. There were both tasteful, spicy like indian food should be. Kerala rice was nicely cooked as well. Finding a restaurant serving nice... More
