Friendly, fast, big, hot, yummy. The waitresses were great. Cute aprons. Pancakes were large, bacon good. Lots of people. Affordable.

Here's the deal. Atmosphere is pretty cool. Food quality is good+. Menu is diverse and service is good. Here's the down side. The waitresses need to dress their age and their build. Don't take a middle aged woman who is a bit overweight and try to dress her in a t-shirt made for a 13 year old. Second is the... More

We're obsessed with this place -- every time we visit our son at college we eat here...EVERY morning. The homemade hash is spectacular (I'm partial to the prime rib version) and the giant biscuits are fantastic (order the apple butter to make this more of a treat). Don't let the line outside intimidate you -- they know how to turn... More

This was our first time in North Carolina and after driving through the night from Massachusetts we were starving. We saw the Smith Street Diner on TripAdvisor so we decided to try it. Everyone was incredibly friendly, service was very quick and the food was excellent. Standard diner breakfast fare with huge portions and it was also very reasonably priced.... More

WOW! If you want to step back 50-60 years in time you will see what it is to go back in time. One of the best breakfast that I have ever had. The menu is simple, the portions are huge and the food is outstanding. You need to bring your big boy appitite when you walk through these doors. The... More

This is the type of place that I love when traveling. Be warned - it's tiny but the food was awesome. The biscuits are enormous.

Went here for breakfast on Sat Dec 28th. We have been here before so knew there would be a wait. Pulled up in front, empty tables visual from outside. Went in and they took our name and said would be 10-15 minutes. This was fine so we moved against the wall towards the back. The same young woman who took... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at Smith Street Diner. The food was delicious, and the portions were huge! The fresh squeezed orange juice is something you don't find everywhere. The Mexican eggs and the corn beef hash were excellent, and the chocolate chip pancakes were a big hit. You won't believe the size of the biscuits! The staff was friendly,... More
