Biscuits!

We stopped here on our way to Chapel Hill from Winston Salem after reading the reviews, and it did not disappoint. It is a small, local, noisy, fun diner with the most amazing biscuits I have ever eaten. They are huge, not just in size, but in quality. They were light, fluffy and buttery... read more

We ate a Friday night dinner here. Being a diner, we thought without seating signs inside we could sit anywhere. We were asked if we had reservations by the waitress! Reservations in a diner? Apparently they were having an Italian night and you had to sign up ahead of time. We were able to sit at the counter and snagged... More

if you like down home southern cooking, especially breakfast, you cannot miss this little place that Guy Fieri would love. The biscuits were amazing.

Our Greensboro friends took us here. WOW! Small place, always packed and the food is phenomenal. Among the best breakfasts I've ever eaten. Biscuits are a meal all by themselves. Huge and fabulous. Had eggs with turkey sausage and spinach. Dee-lish. Pancakes are to die for. Only down side is the wait. We waited almost an hour on a Saturday... More

I usually get to the downtown Greensboro, NC area once a year. The Smith Street Diner is my favor breakfast spot. When you walk in you are transported back in time to what a diner use to be in the 50's and 60's. The diner is clean and the staff is always friendly. The menu is not real big but... More

We had a wonderful breakfast at Smith Street Diner. Thankfully, we called ahead to learn we could anticipate a wait. That's the only negative--because the Diner is small, all waiting is done outside. If there is cold or wet weather, this could be a problem. Biscuits were wonderful--but the size of 3 normal biscuits. Potato pancakes good appetizer. Omelettes were... More

The food is very good, its the closest thing you can get to home cooking with out cooking. The biscuits are huge and very good. Based my visit off trip advisor, I had never been till today and will definitely return. We got there about 9am on a weekday and they only had one table available. So I'm guessing business... More

First off, we're counter denizens. Whether you're from the Upper Midwest, NE or the South there is plenty of well made food served quickly. The portions are on the generous side. Diner fare at it's best with a nice touch of local atmosphere. It's first come first serve in the morning so there may be a line out the door.... More

It was our second experience at Smith Street. Both were very good. Small restaurant that probably seats 30 to 40 (max). They have a bar where can sit and read the paper. They do serve lunch and dinner but feature breakfast all day. Very down home diner like atmosphere. Good service with varied menu. Today I enjoyed Mexican eggs after... More
