Great Road to Nowhere Find

Spent 3 days at Great Basin NP & this was 1 of 2 places to eat. The food is far above the typical truck stop fare, we ate here several times. Ask about the history and see how it evolved from 2 cabins. The owner & staff are locals & fun to talk to.

We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns, and coffee were pretty good. Biscuits and gravy were not. I had biscuits with soup the night before, and the biscuits were very hard. The biscuits at breakfast were even harder, probably leftovers from dinner. The soup didn't taste edible. Lunch was burgers and turned out great. Even with... More

From the highway next to the "next services 92 miles" sign, the exterior did not much inspire. In fact, the restaurant was nice, the food and service good. Entry is through a smokey casino, but the restaurant is smoke-free, bright and clean. The menu features a full range of fried options and gravy, but also a surprisingly good Ortega steak... More

While the menu is pretty much standard truck stop fare, this restaurant, located straddling the Utah-Nevada border, is not bad at all. My wife and I ate dinner there one night while visiting Baker, NV, and Great Basin NP. I had the country fried steak and my wife had a cheese/veggie quesadilla and both were excellent. I had half of... More

Had breakfast here before visiting Great Basin National Park. Meal--eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns, coffee--was as good as you could want. Friendly service and very reasonable prices. Very glad we ate there

We ate dinner and lunch at the Border Inn restaurant and both meals were fine. Nothing knocked our socks off but everything was cooked well and was hot. Good menu choices.

Kind of expected homemade style cooking since this is out in the middle of nowhere. My plate was a hamburger bun with a frozen hamburger patty and canned gravy poured over it. The mashed potatoes where from a bag with the same cold canned grayed poured over it. My Wife had the hot roast beef. It was pre cooked beef... More

We didn't look closely at their location when we reserved this room. We saw the Baker mailing address and wrongly assumed it was in Baker next to the park. If you don't mind the drive to the park it's a place to stay. Rooms were basic and not terribly clean. Blanket was torn as was the bed skirt and the... More

The double burger was good and filling. I had lamb stew that was great with lots of meat. It came with a biscuit and house salad. Very filling. Stew did not have onions or pepper which I appreciated. Nothing fancy but if you are looking to fill up - this works.

This hotel was not very good. Our room, everything was broken! The bed had wooden boards poking out the bottom and the heater was broken. They did give us a new room when we asked for it, service was pretty good. They also had the only restaurant, which was decent. Definitely a little scary to stay here, but I guess... More
