Wow!

Small, cozy atmosphere. There was a half hour wait for a table but were able to access an enclosed rooftop room. Very clean and good service. Hands down the best french onion soup I have ever had. My husband had the special which was swordfish. Also very good. Small menu but they do it very well... read more

We ordered the fish chowder and pastrami on rye. Both were excellent! We also had the rosemary popcorn, another good choice. Although all the desserts looked terrific we were too full to try any. Good service, pleasant atmosphere, we recommend.

Lots of ways people judge a restaurant; service, ambiance, wine cellar, parking, outdoor eating areas, bars, etc. I give the Crooked Spoon Cafe 5 stars for the quality of their food. Using local produce and seasonal ingredients the Crooked Spoon creates wonderful menues and delicious food. While not inexpensive, the quality makes it a worthwhile investment of your traveling budget... More

We were headed to the gunflint for lunch, but it smelled not so great when we entered. The Crooked Spoon not only smelled great, but felt cozy and clean. They also had adorable kid options on the menu. We had the most delicious Arnie Palmers and the girls had lemonades. The real deal, no fountain junk. Salads were super fresh... More

This restaurant stands out in Grand Marais for having the kind of food you'd expect to find in bigger cities. For lunch the other day I had sweet potato risotto with oyster mushrooms, and it was delicious!! A nearby restaurant advertises "the kind of food you grew up with" so you'll find meatloaf and fried chicken on their menu. Crooked... More

We have eaten there several times and it's always been good. Not a very large place but cozy. Dinner portion are large enough to split with a nice wine selection.

The menu items can appeal to non-adventurous diners, but foodies will appreciate the fresh, high quality ingredients. We tried the burger and the special of the day, their twist on an Italian sub which two people could easily share. Choose dill chips or rosemary popcorn as a side and you'll have a memorable lunch.

We ordered the lunch specials: a tomato bacon soup, fried fish sandwich, and a pork burger. The soup was so good I wanted to tell everyone that walked in to order it. It was recommended to us by a local and we were not disappointed.

We LOVE the Crooked Spoon and stop in whenever we're in town since discovering it a few years ago. In addition to delicious food and service, they are wonderful about making items gluten and dairy free as requested (including the fabulous dark chocolate peanut butter mousse). This place is a gem on the North Shore.

We visited here for lunch in early June. They had interesting choices on the kids' menu so that was a hit. Adults tried the lamb stew (delicious) and the French onion soup. That had lots of melts Gruyere cheese and puff pastry over the tureen rather than the usual French bread toasts. We also split a salad with salami, slices... More
