If you go to Grand Marais and dont eat breakfast here, you should be punched in the eye.

This is the BEST breakfast in Minnesota, hands down. Incredible. So so good. The Sister's breakfast, Biscuits n Gravy, those Maple Sausage Patties and man, oh man, THAT PIE!!! Wow!

This place used to be called 'The Crying Onion' or something - would never go back. BUT// "The Pie Place" - absolutely yummy. The salad, soups, crab cakes and various flavoured iced tea. The deserts are a whole new thing. Very good. Pretty sure if you call ahead, they'll even custom bake a pie to eat or order to take... More

If you are new to travelling in the Midwest, you may be surprised to see a lot of restaurants featuring "pie" and, depending on your roots, you may even confuse Midwestern "pie" with East Coast pie or Caribbean pie which assuredly are made with meat, potatoes or pasta and cheese. A Midwest pie, on the other hand, is straight out... More

My husband and I go here each year we are up at the North Shore, their crab cake salad is the best and their homemade pies are delish!

We ended up having dinner here both nights we were in Grand Marais. Nice location overlooking the harbor. In our two nights we both had the three meat maple glazed meatloaf and the homemade chicken pot pie, both of which were excellent. Portions are adequate, not huge, and flavorful. Good selection of local beers. Service was OK, a bit slow... More

This small restaurant overlooks the harbor in Grand Marais. Nothing fancy, but the food is well prepared and the service is quick and friendly. Had a light lunch the first day. I had Radish Dill soup which was unusual but excellent and homemade Mango Ginger Lemonade which was very refreshing. Also shared a slice of homemade Maple Pecan pie. Delicious!... More

The Pie Place recently moved its location in Downtown Grand Marais, right across from the harbor. The new setting has facilitated a great new menu and better service. I think it is now one of the best food values in town.

Went to The Pie Place for an enjoyable outdoor breakfast. The weather was a balmy 75 degrees. Had the fantastic egg sandwich. Nothing like I've tasted before with their special hash browns... DELICIOUS!!!!!!!

And it appears that you are paying for it. I have eaten here several times on separate trips and my overall impression is that the food is good but the prices too high. I understand that is is a seasonal area and they have to make their money during the "season" but this place seems a bit out of kilter... More

Yes ladies and gentleman, if you appreciate the long lost taste of real American pie, then please stop at The Pie Place in Grand Marais, Minnesota! I have found no other restaurant or bakery that compares. The Pie Place still uses traditional crusts which are flaky and nutty tasting. The Pie Place fills their delicious crusts with real made from... More
