When it comes to our famous pies or our amazing breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus the secret is simple - our first ingredient is always love! We are a family-owned restaurant that has proudly served up gourmet home-cooking and a warm atmosphere on the North Shore of Lake Superior since 1996. Our bakery boasts an extensive selection of berry pies, cream pies, and specialty pies, alongside cookies and cakes and other seasonal desserts! Pies are baked daily entirely from scratch using all of the best available ingredients to ensure a flavor unlike any other. But at The Pie Place Café, we're about more than just pies! Locals and visitors alike enjoy our summer breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. We've been called the best breakfast on the North Shore and it's not hard to see why with our popular Maple Sausage Patties, omelets, and pancakes. Our lunch and supper menus feature favorites like the Black Bear Blueberry Salad and Three Meat Maple Meatloaf - hands down the best meatloaf we've ever tried! Whether you're joining us for one of our namesake pies or an unforgettable Pie Place Café dinner, we look forward to making you feel right at home.

Great lunch stop

Great surprise when we stopped in for lunch on a busy weekend. Waiter was so attentive and patient with 3 pre-teen children placing orders. Delicious burgers made to order. Very nice atmosphere on a busy street. Didn't try the pie....will have to save room next visit. Will be back! Thanks!

I had the crab cake Benedict. Eggs were perfectly poached, hollandaise was creamy and the perfect bit of lemon and butter. good strong coffee, and Mimosas were great. Great view of the harbor to complement the cozy atmosphere. The breakfast potatoes were the best ever. I had tried to recreate at home, I should had gotten the recipe. I did... More

We stopped in for lunch during Fishermen's Picnic because we didn't want to eat from a food truck that day. Big mistake. Although there was only one other couple eating, we stood at the door waiting for a table for over 5 -10 minutes, waiting for someone to come and seat us. And it's not like they couldn't know we... We're sorry you hear you weren't seated quickly! Usually, we ask that our guests seat themselves, but we're sorry that no one was available to help you in the moment. We hope we'll get another chance to welcome you in someday! All the best, Your Team at The Pie Place Cafe More

Went here with friends who come to Grand Marais often, they are foodies. I am sure a big part of our issue was the timing. When a big weekend is coming up (MEA) you staff accordingly. We had only two wait persons; the young men tried their best but people were getting forgotten in corners, people were waiting 15-20-25 minutes... More

While we're glad the staff was courteous and the burgers were tasty, we're disappointed to hear it wasn't as great a meal as it should've been! Truly, we appreciate knowing exactly where we can improve -- we'll look to see how we can implement all your feedback! And we also hope we'll get that second chance to completely win you... More

The pie was decadent, it was hard to choose just one! We'd seen "dog friendly patio" advertised, but it's a couple tables on the sidewalk out front, kind of in the way of passers by. Beautiful view from those seats though! The wind was too much for us to comfortably sit outside though, so the dogs stayed in the car... More

We're thrilled the pie was such a hit! To hear the view was just right for you is a real treat, but we're sorry the pups had to stay in the car! We hope you'll make it back with them to see us someday when the wind dies down a bit. Thank you for the kind words! Best wishes, Your... More

A charming and folksy restaurant in the town of Grand Marais with a view of the lake features an interesting menu featuring but not exclusive to pies of all varieties. Some at my table had meat and fish pies. Several had fruit pies for dessert. I had handmade raviolis with a delicate sauce. Our table of 4 raved about our... More

My Beau LOVES pie. He agonizes over his choice. He visited twice and had nice chats with staff before going back the next day to select a rhubarb raspberry. He bought the entire pie and had to have ice cream on top. They bent over backwards and broke some rules to get him what he wanted. We were leaving the... More

Not much to brag about here. Service was slack, food was only ok and way overpriced. The view ok Lake Superior was the high point. Much better places in town at far better prices.
