Went here for breakfast. The food was good, but too expensive, IMHO. If not for the cost, I'd have given it 4 stars. Our service was excellent. A European waitress who was very friendly, efficient, and all smiles. I watched her take care of a couple of little old ladies at a table next to us and she was super... More

Our visit left us disappointed. It was our first visit to the cafe and likely our last yesterday evening. The fish came out cold on two of our four plates and we found several bones in them. When we mentioned the fish was cold they just took our plates in the back and warmed the fish up. The fish came... More

Our family of six had dinner recently at the Pie Place and were very disappointed in the food and the service. When we were seated we wondered why it was not crowded when every other restaurant on town had a waiting line but soon found out. Two of us had fish and chips and the fish was cooked to a... More

Everything about the breakfast was very good. The crab cake Benedict and cheeses potatoes were filling and well prepared. The maple sausage, onion, Gouda cheese omelet was also good. Be sure to order the wild rice cranberry toast. We went back for late snack and had their blueberry pie with vanilla custard ice cream.

I had the pulled pork sandwich with a side salad. Side salad came with a maple vinaigrette which was amazing. Even though the sandwich was good, wish I would've ordered a salad. Husband had the daily special which was a pork pizza - was a bit dry and needed better sauce. We had a party of 13 and the waitress... More

Food was pretty good. The maple syrup meatloaf sandwich is a nice local spin on a classic, your choice of served hot or cold. Some outdoor seating overlooking beautiful harbor. They even brought a water bowl for the dog when we ate outside. Like a lot of Grand Marais restaurants, mostly foreign servers in summer so service can be hit... More

Stopped for breakfast on a rainy Monday morning - service was slow but friendly. Food was good although my order was wrong. Try the cranberry wild rice bread-we both enjoyed it.

This place has got the very best breakfast our family has ever had! The cheeses breakfast potatoes are to die for and the maple sausage party's are the best! (Not the links). If they sold the party's and potatoes I would buy them to take home! Mentioned this when we were out sailing on the lake and the local guys... More

The Pie Place Café is located across the street from the Lake Superior beach. The day that we stopped for lunch just happened to be the day of the Dragon Boat Races, so along with our lunch, we got to enjoy some entertainment from our table by the window. My friend and I split the huge turkey club sandwich, which... More

We ate dinner and had the fish and chips - herring from Lake Superior and the Canadian Walleye. Both were great! My son hadn't ever had walleye or herring - he enjoyed both. Also, went for breakfast the next morning - the strawberry syrup in the homemade ginger ale was wonderful! as was the blueberry pancake with local organic maple... More
