Good Service at the Blue Water Cafe

On a recent winter vacation, we stopped at the BW for breakfast twice. We were impressed with the attention paid us by our waitress. Food quality and quantity were both at 8+ out of 10. Breakfast is served all day - highly recommended.

The Reuben and the burgers were good. Great fries. The price was a little steep, but we were very satisfied with the food. They serve Dorothy's Root Beer. Yummy. It was a smallish place and busy, but we didn't wait long for a table. The decor was cool and the service very good.

We were impressed with our biscuits and sausage-laden gravy at this cozy diner. Also tried the Swedish pancakes with lingonberry sauce; okay but much better at Cascade. I'd say short of driving up to Trail Center, it's the best cheap breakfast in town in the winter. Eggs perfectly cooked to order, plenty of coffee every moment, smiling waitresses. Cute. Booths... Omelet was delish and my husbands basted eggs & bacon were good too. (I do think $13 for an omelet was quite steep, however) Service was great and we had a pleasant meal. Enjoy!!

We stopped in for breakfast. I was excited to try the omelette with the wild rice. It was fair to a little bit gross. The wild rice was almost non-existent and the omelet itself was overpowered by the mushrooms. The hash browns were skinny. All in all the food was just blah Definitely not worth the whopping $12. We left... More

So sorry for your substandard visit. :( This kind of service and food quality is not what we want to be your memory of Blue Water Cafe and Grand Marais! The server has been suspended from his job and the kitchen staff have been informed of the food quality. Please do not let this one visit to us be a... More

The super hashbrowns were perfect and my fiance loved his Swedish pancakes with lingdon berries. The coffee was surprisingly good too! Most cafe/diners like this have terrible coffee, but Blue Water's tasted freshly brewed!

We had breakfast there and while it's not the cheapest diner in towner, my husband felt the food was better at this one, so worth paying a little more. The server was very nice and my husband enjoyed his Swedish pancake especially. I had an omelet, which was also good. It's diner food, so no need to get excited, but... More

We were looking for a cup of coffee and pie at the end of our late October day trip to Grand Marais, and most of the restaurants in town were closed. The Blue Water Cafe was open, we saw the Trip Adviser sign and had the BEST apple(me) and berry (husband) Pie... good coffee too.
