This was our second visit in 2 years & we can say for definite that we will stop again on our next North Shore visit. Love the atmosphere & our server was great. Attentive to our needs but did not hover. The smoked caviar appetizer was amazing. My husband had the fresh herring & I had the smoked trout pasta-... More

My husband and i stopped for lunch while we were going through grand marais and ended up spending almost $100 which we would not have minded if the food would have been any good. My husbands hamburger came out on a small dinner roll and was unseasoned and although it wasn't dry the texture was a bit strange. I asked... More

Although the trout was touted by everyone we talked with, we came to Grand Marais for Walleye, and The Angry Trout sated our appetites! The food was delicious, and service staff professional, efficient, courteous, and North Woods friendly.

Well we went there on a Saturday night so an hour wait for a table was expected, but there was a server who brought us a beer. I got the fish n chips (whitefish) and the hubs got the Alaskan Salmon. Our food was amazing. Plus, the owners encourage sustainability which is also pretty awesome. The service however was a little... More

Heard great things about this place from friends so I was eager to try it out. Got seated fairly quickly on a busy night and thought the atmosphere was pretty cool. Very limited beer list (3) but were all good choices. Salmon fritters were tasty, grilled salmon was good as was the homemade apple pie. Everything else was just really... More

I don't like chipped table wear. We took friends from Europe here and were not pleased with the dinners. The fish was greasy. In the past our meals have been very tasty. I will try it again but if things are not improved, that will be that.

This is our second time having lunch at the Angry Trout Cafe. This time it was during peak Fall colors, a Friday afternoon around 1:30. We had about a 15 minute wait but they had chairs by the lake for waiting and it was a beauty of a day. Service was good, food was good, and weather and view was... More

My review for this place is strictly for the service since we never got to eat here. I will begin at the beginning. As soon as we entered, the guy behind.the desk in the lobby said "Can I get you to close the door please." No hi, how are you or welcome. I wasnt happy but did as he requested.... More
