The food is incredibly good. Just looking over the menu reminds me - of their soups, salads, chicken or fish sandwiches. They have a deep commitment to local and area providers of food - whether it's fish, chicken or beef. They really belief in their mission which is clear and strong. Did I mention that the food is REALLY good.... More

We make a trip to Grand Marais several times during the year. Whenever the Angry Trout is open, we make sure to have a meal there. We love the view, the natural food and table decorations--and the wine! We love it there!!

This is my favorite place in Grand Marais. The food is so very good. The service. is excellent The view of the lake is beautiful. Beer, wine, fresh caught fish, can it get any better.

We visited this quaint, iconic eatery on a busy autumn weekend day, and though it was well past the "normal" lunch hour, the wait time was 20-30 minutes. We were sat and given a wonderful table with a view facing Lake Superior (worth the wait)! The food was remarkably well prepared and presented. The staff was upbeat, if not a... More

The food here was very very good. But make sure to have plenty of time when making a stop because your delicious meal takes a bit more than usual.

While the food, service and atmosphere are great - the price is a bit high. I appreciate the use of local and organically produced foods and beverages. If you eat nothing else you must have their salad. It is amazing! It is my favorite part of my visit beyond the views.

I've been traveling to the Lake Superior North Shore for the better part of 15 years. Very early on in my travels, I was exposed to Angry Trout Cafe and simply fell in love with it. Every year that I have traveled to the Superior North Shore, I've made a point to visit this establishment. My wife is now also... More

The Angry Trout has been a consistently great restaurant since I started going there 10 years ago, and this time was no different. We were there right at the end of the season before they close the end of October. My wife had the smoked trout fettuccine and I had the grilled fish of the day dinner (herring). Both were... More

Excellent place to get local fish prepared perfectly. Our server was attentive and friendly. Really couldn't have asked for more. Actually, I could have asked for less...next time I'll probably order a lunch portion as I was really, really stuffed (and I certainly couldn't leave any food behind!).

My wife and I had grilled salmon and fried fresh lake herring, respectively, which were served with wild rice and a delicious green salad. Portions were very generous. We've had dinner here at least once on every visit to Grand Marais since the 1990's, and the food has always been outstanding. I appreciate that we can come as we are... More
