The Trout is a great place for both enjoying the scene near the harbor and for great food. It's pleasant interior space, friendly staff, and good food make for a great night out in GM. The menu has a nice price range, which also makes it one of the few restaurants in GM that you can have a good meal... More

We have loved the Angry Trout for as long as they've been open. The food is local, fresh and often organic. Typically, the staff is very knowledgable (although some are really surly, which is kind of a bummer but I just order an extra glass of wine and smile smugly to myself because hey, it's my vacation). The majority of... More

We went on a Saturday night at the end of the season. We were seated right away. Service is quick and friendly. The crowd is casual: jeans and fleece seemed the norm. The fresh grilled fish was trout, which was perfectly cooked but bland as bland can be. Could only be worse if the same preparation was used for whitefish.... More

The presentation of our entre's at the Angry Trout was as good as the meals themselves. I was impressed by the unique way our meal was delivered. Trust me the taste matched that. My wife had the catch of the day and I had a beef entre. Well worth the price.

I've been to the Angry Trout 3 times now. They concentrate on seafood and do quite a good job with it. One odd thing is that they make their own soda. My relatives rave about the cola. The setting is also quite nice with views of the harbor whether sitting inside or out.

We recently visited the Angry Trout Cafe for the second time, and enjoyed it again. If we visit Grand Marais again, we will definitely dine here for a third time!

Smoked fish and cheese appetizer was wonderful and great plenty for my lunch. My wife had the veggie plate and loved it.

For the first night in Grand Marais we visited The Angry Trout Cafe. It was a Saturday night so it was reasonable that it should be crowded. There was a bit of a wait but we were a group of 15 and the restaurant seated us as soon as enough seats were available. We were disappointed that the local fish... More

I can't think of a weak point about the Angry Trout. The food is terrific, never bland, attractive presentation. The setting is beautiful, on the harbor at Grand Marais. The furniture was made locally as was the tableware. They procure produce as geographically near as they can. Staff has always been cordial to us.

The service was good for our crowd - maybe 10 or so women. But they didn't have what I wanted to order, so I didn't know what to expect. It was good, but not excellente. We had to rearrange the orders, of course were so many women talking, I suppose it was easy to mistake one order for the next.... More
