We try to visit GM 1-2x per year. The Gunflint Tavern is a regular stop for us. We love the small bar and the upstairs portion looking over the lake. I am in LOVE with their sangria... it is more of a mulled sangria and very good. Their menu is diverse and I think anyone can find something to eat... More

We had an amazing lunch at the Tavern! The menu choices were unique and we tried a variety of items. Everything was delicious and hot. Even though they were very busy the service was great!

I found the Gunflint Tavern to be a bit of a let down. First we were greeted by a hostess who seemed completely overwhelmed, so we opted to sit at the bar. It took awhile to get service, despite being acknowledged by the bartender several times. After looking over the menu, and being underwhelmed, we decided to enjoy our beers,... More

Great, non-traditional bar food, Great beer selection. Great local live music! View of Lake Superior!

It's an incredible restaurant with a wide variety of cuisines represented, all with a chef's twist. There's bar seating on the roof that lets you view Lake Superior, but if it's too warm as it was for us this last visit, the inside is an atmospheric not-too-small restaurant with a very good craft beer selection. We've been coming to Grand... More

Every year we come to Grand Marais for our anniversary and The Gunflint Tavern never lets us down. We really enjoy the variety of food choices the restaurant has to offer. The French onion soup is phenomenal and their appetizers can be substituted as an entrée because they're so generous. To top things off, the have a rooftop bar that... More

I stopped here for some great beer, I love craft beer and they have a good selection. Ordered a dark nitro beer, the bartender informed me I should start with something else and "work my way up to that", I said I will be okay. He then comes back and gives me a different beer and says I would like... More

This is a small cozy bar. So much cool stuff to look at. Nautical theme. Amy the bartender was great. Funny and friendly. Met some very nice people. The roof top bar is cool and the view is terrific.

I've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. They have a really unique menu with items that you won't find in many other restaurants (such as bangers and mash). Their token "side" that comes with their sandwiches is blue tortilla chips with a chipotle seasoned dip (I think it's a ranch base, but not sure). It's also... More

What a place! We walked in from the cold to the warm and vibrant atmosphere of the tavern. We expected bar food, but were surprised with high quality, home made quality, crafted dishes. The service was excellent - efficient and friendly. The beer selection was also fantastic - small, but hit all the right spots. And for the topping on... More
