Favorite spot on the North Shore

We have been coming to the Lodge, north of Grand Marais and right on Lake Superior, for over 30 years now, going through different owners and remodelings. We have always been very happy with the food and service every time we have come. I can not think of any one item on their menu I would not... read more

WE CAME FOR THE HIGH TEA. We saw the ads and heard about the amazing architecture of this building along with its intriguing history. We arrived a little after the 3:00pm advertised "High Tea Time". But we could not find anyone at the Entrance desk, nor in the Main Dining room... And so it began....nothing quite as it should be.... More

First of all, I apologize that your visit to Naniboujou was not what you had hoped for. I am writing this response not to disagree with you, but rather to correct a number of inaccuracies or misconceptions that I found in your review so that others have a clearer picture of what we offer for our Afternoon Tea. And that... More

We drove here specifically to see the lodge's decoration - it's located some 16 miles north of Grand Marais. It was too late for lunch so we chose to have afternoon tea - unfortunately they serve this in the solarium and not in the main (and more impressive) dining room. Curiously, we were not asked what type of tea we... More

In mid-July 2015, four of us enjoyed the fantastic Sunday brunch offered by the Naniboujou Historic Lodge Restaurant. The location is beautiful -- on the shore of Lake Superior, just north of Grand Marais. The restaurant itself retains the (restored and refurbished) decorated walls and ceilings (based upon designs of the Cree Indians) -- and those decorations are very, very... More

This place is so overhyped and I still haven't figured out why. Food is average, service is hit and miss and the prices are in no relation to the quality of food. Save the trip and go to the Crooked Spoon.

While we did not stay or eat at this resort, the staff was friendly. The interior design is unique and worth the price to stay in. No TVs in the resort, no WIFI. You can totally unwind and relax. The menu offered a good variety for all appetites.

Stopped for breakfast - what a great place! The French toast was delicious and the building was absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend a visit here! Our only regret was that we didn't try dinner while we were in the area. Will be back!

We enjoyed another visit to this colorful dining room. My husband had wild blueberry pancakes and eggs while I had the BEST ever French toast. It had a light coating of finely crushed corn flakes that gave a nice crispy crunch to the wonderful, thick artisan bread. The short stack of two pieces was a large serving. The coffee is... More

the best Sunday Brunch ever and always. We have had Sunday brunch there several times, it is always great. We finally went back for High Tea at 3 PM and it was wonderful. the same week we went for Monday dinner and the Balsamic rib steak was most wonderful. we were not staying there. we drove from our home there.

This is our favorite restraint. I named it "The best of the best" because we always save this as our special treat on our annual vacation trip to Grand Marais every year. We have been coming to Grand Marais for more than fifteen years now for a weeks vacation in God's country. Naniboujou is our favorite and we always save... More
