Because of the reviews here on TripAdvisor my husband and I decided on our way up to Grand Portage to stop for breakfast here. We were both sure glad we did, the breakfast was served hot and exactly how we ordered. It was plentiful and delicious. The uniquiness I noticed that you knew you were in a Minnesota is that... More

We love the name of this place because when you think of south of the border your mind always goes to Mexico. They have very cheap breakfast that reminds you of having Mom cook for you. It's more of a locals place but we certainly felt welcome. Great service!

We drove up the North Shore on the Harley and arrived in GM just after 11am starving. The places down on the harbor wouldn't serve breakfast and a local pointed us to this place. Just perfect!! The food was so good, huge portions and just the way I would cook a big breakfast for hungry guests in my home. Yummm.... More

This is a great spot for breakfast with the family or out with friends. If you need upscale decor and hip lighting, this isn't the place for you!! This is an old style cafe just how the locals like it. It is reasonably priced and you get great value in food and service. This is a great spot on the... More

Great portions! And food to keep you moving throughout the day of outside activity. Bring cash or check as they keep costs reasonable by not accepting credit cards.

We had a good breakfast here before getting on the road. Don't think Mexican by the way, they mean south of the Canadian border. Nothing special, but they do standard really good. Hashbrowns are thinly sliced and very good.

We have been eating breakfast here for 20 years. It is the perfect spot to stop, either before heading into, or out of, the BWCA. You can get a great, old fashioned, hearty breakfast, for a very reasonable price. It's not fancy, but good. It seems to be a local favorite. Staff is very friendly and usually has a great... More

Tried restaurant for breakfast & found everything simple & average. Prices were less than other restaurants, decor nonexistent, location made parking a challenge. More like an old fashioned local joint with views of the street.

The SOB (as it is known locally) is Grand Marais's town breakfast-lunch gathering place. It's a 'Sixties kind of cafe, with plastic bench seats, and picture windows looking out on the town and Highway 61. I've been going there with my family for a decade, ever since we bought property outside of town. Sometimes one needs a respite from the... More
