Wonderful old lodge and great service

Call ahead and let them know you're coming. Ask what is on the menu for the evening. Choices are very limited but usually very good. Best 'ribs dinner' on the Gunflint Trail. Owners are delight and will make your visit friendly and enjoyable.

Our daughter suggested this location and called in our dinner reservations and meal selections. We weren't sure what to expect and we were truly wowed! The place is picture perfect from the view out the front windows from our table to the delicious salmon and ribs we enjoyed! It was a classic old style dining experience from the plate of... More

My husband and I wanted to get away for a weekend in northern Minnesota by the BWCA. We had read good reviews on Loon Lake Lodge, so we decided to book a weekend in late August. The lodge is about 40 miles north of Grand Marais, so well off the beaten path, but really worth it! Tom and Terri are... More

We had a delicious meal at Loon Lake Lodge. We were staying a at lodge that has the reputation for having the finest dinging on the Gunflint Trail but our meal here was better than our meals at the other lodge. The fish was fabulous as were the ribs. I have a gluten sensitivity and they accommodated me fabulously. We... More

It's like eating out but in your own home. Terry and Tom are always there to make sure it goes well. Never rush the meal, it's time to get to know each other and talk about the day.

If you're looking for your run of the mill restaurant then this isn't the place. Loon Lake Lodge is tucked into the hillside next to Loon Lake and is truly a dining experience. The log lodge is the perfect setting for a family meal or quiet couples getaway. The owners are welcoming and charming and food excellent. Reservations are needed... More

This is the kind of rustic place you'd expect in the wilderness of the boundary waters (about five miles from the Canadian Border). The 1920's cabins are just that (rustic), but they are super clean and in their own way, quite charming (we had cabin 7, which is off by itself so it is also very private, with a clear... More

Loon Lake Lodge is primarily a resort however the dining room at Loon Lake Lodge is open to both guests and non-guests. Meals are served at Loon Lake Lodge from mid May until approximately Labor Day. 24 hour advanced reservations are required.
