Ate lunch & enjoyed their delicious food. For guests they have free coffee & freshly baked cookies available all day.
I had the walleye wild rice Gouda enchilada .... Wonderful!!! Burgers and salads were delicious. The owner stopped to chat and recommend his favorites. Sunday night buffet on the deck!
we'd eaten at Gunflint Lodge once before and because of the restaurant we decided to try a vacation at the lodge for our 25th wedding anniversary. The expectations were high, the reality of this place exceeded expectations! There was solitude when we needed solitude, there was wildlife when we needed wildlife. And the restaurant offered us great meals throughout our... More
Normally kids look forward to malted milks after coming down from the high cliffs hike. But sometimes someone drops the ball (or forgets the order) it happens. Thing is, no one seemed to care, they just work there.
A fabulous drive down Gunflint Trail (beautiful scenery, esp seeing the tree blowdown) led us to the Gunflint Lodge, where we ate at the Red Paddle. We both had the fried walleye dinner with asparagus and wild rice-excellent! Desert was apple pie which we could have skipped, just average due to it really being a apple pie overloaded with walnuts,... More
Justine's is very nice family dining located in the Gunflint Lodge. The breakfast selections are varied, generous, and well prepared. The evening menu offered a variety of soups, sandwiches, and salads. There were weekend specials available and a full service bar. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, value, and presentation and it was a good thing because we were... More
There is nothing to dislike about Justine's. This venue though simple, is truly in league with some of the finest restaurants we have eaten at in Chicago. We were there for a gourmet and wine tasting weekend. The food prepared that night was equal to the finest meal you could eat at Charlie Trotter's in Chicago.
Gunflint Lodge has two resturants within one buildling. The Bistro has awesome food and much more than just bar food. I actually thought that was just as good as the food at Justine's. Justine's is a little more upscale. The service was excellent - Chris was our server and we waited for nothing - he was awesome.
My wife and I usually try and eat here once when we are in Cook County every year. Don't have to be a guest to eat here. Food is excellent and typically priced the same as other Trail establishments. I usually have The Don which is a very large corned beef sandwich. Others I have dined with state their food... More
We were on the Gunflint for a few days and wanted to see this lodge. It was nice and the restaurant was, too, and has a great view of the lake; white table cloths, too. Had the parmesan crusted walleye and would give it an okay; vegetables with it were nice and crisp, so give them a higher mark. I... More
