Worth the drive. Driving the Gun Flint Trail at the end of September is nothing beyond marvelous. Having an early dinner, which we were glad we did, because this place fills up fast.Even on a Monday night. The food was awesome. The service was superb. The little store connecting the restaurant was very charming. You'll be sorry if you drive by and don't... More

We timed our trip to get breakfast at the trail center and were not disappointed! We both ended up ordering the Trail Center's french toast, which is their homemade bread pudding, dipped in their french toast batter and grilled. This was served with their homemade pumpkin syrup. It was indeed heaven on a plate! I bought some pumpkin syrup and... More

Normally I do not leave bad reviews because I am a local and in the industry myself. I have contemplated this for 2 weeks now, and have decided to write about my experience here. I ate breakfast with a friend and I ordered the Walleye and Eggs. My friend ordered the Prime Rib and Eggs. When I received my plate,... More

J****, We are very sorry to hear you had such a bad experience at Trail Center. Would you please email me and tell me what day that was? I have not been able to find the cooks copy of your meal, let alone an unpaid check. I have checked every day for the last 2 weeks. You should still have... More

A true gem in the north woods, and a highlight of our trip. The staff are friendly and dinner service was quick. The menu isn't expansive, but what's there is done right. Still, there are entree, sandwich, burger, soup and salad choices to choose from. Not sharing a dessert is our only regret.

Busy, busy, busy. Arrive early or arrive late or prepare to wait. A great little north woods bar and grill. Also get your dehydrated "trail dinners" and other grocery necessities. Regular meals are getting too expensive for the value..... although your choices on the trail are limited. Same is true of the cost of the dehydrated meals....... they are definitely good,... More

A day trip on the Gunflint Trail is not complete without a stop at Trail Center Lodge. This trip we weren't ready for a meal on our way up the trail since we stopped in Grand Marais for World's Best Donuts. We arrived back at Trail Center late afternoon hoping we could enjoy a late lunch and we certainly did.... More

What a gem in the middle of an amazing Wilderness area. We enjoyed the canoe burgers and fish fry after three days in the wilderness. Thanks.

This place is the epitome of woodsy northern dining (or breakfasting or whatever). Can't count the number of times we've eaten here, but last night's meal was typical. I had the Bear Beattie burger - blue and Swiss cheeses on top - and my husband had the chili-topped burger. Both delicious. Generous salad with the house creamy parmesan dressing. The... More

Definitely worth the drive to get here. Their Chicken Parmesan was fantastic, and my wife's Prime Rib was heavenly! Make it a point to get up here!

I had searched TripAdvisor for restaurants in and around Grand Marais during our recent trip there. This establishment showed up in the search results, with high ratings and a delicious-sounding menu with lots of variety. So, we decided to check it out. A bit to our surprise, this restaurant is about 29 miles north of town on the Gunflint Trail... More
