We didn't eat here but because it can be a challenge finding good fresh fish in the Midwest we stopped in and discovered Dockside Fish Market had a very good selection. It looked so good I bought more than I expected. We had the Whitefish last night and it was excellent and tonight we have the Lake Trout. Can't wait.... More

We purchased fresh Lake Superior Herring and it was awesome pan fried. My husband likes their smoked fish also.

The clam chowder is excellent! The walleye fish and chips is the go to meal. The fries are plentiful and great tasting. You order at the counter and food comes in plastic and paper so if you want fancy this isn't for you. Great fresh fish at a fair price.

The dockside is a small fish market that serves a limited menu. There is a small seating area inside and a patio with a few tables. You go to the counter to place your order. They are known for their smoked fish (The Angry Trout next door uses their smoked trout in a dish) so we had the smoked trout... More

We were told Grand Marais was a must-see on our trip to the North Shore of Lake Superior, and it did not disappoint. Right on our way into town, we saw a stream of people headed into Docksde. As we wanted some fish for dinner, and smoked fish as well, we decidied to stop in. Great choice! The fish selection... More

On a recent trip to Grand Marais, MN - we happened to stop by Dockside Fish Market. Though we did not eat there - we did explore their many delectable fish and seafood options. We know we will be back while visiting the area on future trips. They specialize in fresh caught fish (daily) from Lake Superior. They also sell... More

The salmon spread is truly a find. The whitefish is among the best ever. Recommended to us by a local -- she was spot-on. Right on Highway 61, so you can't miss it. Friendly service. Don't forget a cooler to take it home -- if it lasts that long!

We enjoyed the walleye, which was reasonably priced & sitting on the deck near Grand Marais Bay was enjoyable.

We love to visit Dockside for their smoked fish, cooked shrimp and the lemon cake! We pack picnic lunches and enjoy them while hiking. We bought smoked lake trout and salmon from a couple different places and this was the best.

The Dockside is tucked in just east of the North House Folk School and has great chowders and excellent fish & chips. A great value compared to the full-service / full menu places nearby. Also has a nice variety of locally caught and smoked fish.
