What is this place doing in Silver City?

Outstanding, continental and mediterranean food in an intimate setting in the historic downtown district. Portions are reasonable and the service is personal.

The restaurant was clean, the chef and his staff interacted with our group well, and the pricing was okay. We had a three course dinner that was brilliantly prepared and presented. It would meet the requirements of any restaurateur. It was a wonderful dinner.

This is the best restaurant I have eaten at ever, anywhere. I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. It is exquisite!

Thanksgiving Dinner at Shevek's was fabulous. The dishes were all prepared perfectly; service was impeccable and the atmosphere was friendly and neighborly. The meal was presented family style and we were offered seconds on everything. My turkey loving son declared the turkey and gravy as the best he had ever eaten, but the sweet potato compote was my favorite. The... More

On a night spent in Silver City between Albuquerque and Tucson, my husband and I asked our hotel staff where to eat dinner and Shevek was recommended. We were so thrilled with the meal. The food was outstanding - every dish (we ordered four of them) was special and flavorful in its own way. We haven't had a meal out... More

The food and wine are outstanding, what troubles me is the service. I understand the owners are trying to bring sophistication to the dining experience, but it comes off as rude and offensive. I've tried this restaurant on multiple occasions, and the experience leaves me angry and somehow feeling like a child that's been scolded. For this reason I felt... More

Thank you for your review. I'm glad that you love our food. It has never been our intention to have the formality of our service make someone feel uncomfortable, nor are we trying to be rude or offensive. I wish you were more specific about what makes you feel this way. I know that the fact that we will insist... More

Not enough tapas places exist in the world! Shevek does it really well. We tried the French style pate, which was garlicky and winey: perfect. Next came the pissaladiere, which was crustless, tomatoey, with onion, mushrooms and chili (lots of flavor). The vermicelli with shrimp had too much chili and too little salt. Grilled ground lamb on couscous with yoghurt... More

Love the tapas approach! Having a selection of luscious little plates instead of committing to a huge entree is a wonderful way to enjoy dinner and the wide variety of their menu. It's a little meat-centric, although there are a few other choices, all of which were delicious and well spiced. Our server was so helpful and really made the... More

We were really surprised at the great food we found in Silver City. Shevek & Co was top on the list of places to go and it did not disappoint. If you go, make sure Amber Wind is your server, he adds much to the experience. Small plates with a twist.

I sometimes stop at Shevek's for a glass of wine at the end of the week; the wine offerings are the best for 100 miles around. Tonight, chef offered a seasonal soup in the bar menu: Chilled blueberry/merlot in a light cream base. Hmmm. Piqued my curiosity. I ordered a small bowl. OMG. Let me assure you I am not... More
