Gourmet dining in Silver City? Yep! We had a delicious dinner at Shevek & Co. They take themselves a *little* seriously in an otherwise laid back New Mexico town (over-accentuated French pronunciations, for instance) but they have an impressive menu, an extensive wine list, and very good service. Would definitely go back again.

We chose four small plates and were highly impressed with both the presentation and the flavors of every one. They had a good wine list with many inexpensive but tasty choices. The Orange and Coriander Duck and the Venison Escallops were simply delicious and perfectly cooked.

Shevek was a lovely restaurant in a small town -reasonably priced for a lovely meal including wine. This is a tapas portion meal - and the waiter recommended 3-4 portions for a normal adult. That proved correct. My husband and i shared a wonderful chicken noodle soup (century old Jewish recipe!!); and then we each had a distinctive salad. I... More

I cannot praise this restaurant highly enough. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, and he found time to discuss the menu as well as to talk to us more generally. The food was delicious.

My wife and I visited Shevek's for a quiet evening out after I returned from a week away from home. We arrived before any other patrons and enjoyed a peaceful corner table in this small and personal restaurant. My wife loves exotic and complex dishes. I'm not very adventuresome when it comes to eating. Shevek's pleased both of us with... More

We visited here with friends and arrived 15 minutes before our reservation but were seated immediately which was good since we were the first ones there. Our waiter was very good although once it got busy he didn't give us as much service as in the "beginning," i.e. no refills on water or checking back to see how things were... More

Having lived in Silver City 45 years ago I was amazed and delighted to find a restaurant of this caliber. The food is outstanding. My husband and I loved the tapas portions since it gave us the opportunity to sample a number of dishes..all of which were wonderful. We have lived and dined in both Chicago and New York and... I and my girlfriend dined here after a long day of hiking. We loved the wine list, but the food was very disappointing. We ordered clam chowder and it tasted like vegetable soup. It wasn't creamy at all. The deserts were so tiny and not satisfying. The meal was also very expensive for a small town in New Mexico. I... More

I have only once before not apologized in a response and so I hope folks reading this will read through to the end. I'll start with the fact that this is a restaurant owned by 2 gay men, one of which was your waiter. We count many lesbian as friends and guests of our restaurant. Your girlfriend came into our... The food was amazing, very unique - unlike anything I have eaten before. The style of smaller portions allows you to experiment and enjoy a greater variety than you would normally have. We plan to return very soon!

We arrived early and sat in the bar. We didn't realize there even was a dining room until we had ordered because it is kind of hidden. The clam chowder was like soup, not thick at all. It was sweet like coconut milk and didn't have a lot of clams. The fig, prosciutto and gorganzola on a small flour tortilla... More

My apologies that you apparently weren't asked if you were in for dinner or snacks at the bar--your waitress is new at the job and has been reminded that she needs to do that. If you had asked we would have gladly moved you into the dining room. As for your comments on the food, in New England there are... More
