I previously wrote a review of the fish tacos. As delicious as they were then, they have become even better! My wife has begun to order them with rice substituted for the tortillas. Attached are photos of the two variations, which also show the beans-and-guacamole side that can be added for only a dollar. Considering the superb quality and reasonable... More

The tasting menu was exquisite, service was impeccable, wine was delicious, and ambiance was unique. We saw the recent NM magazine article about the restaurant, and we drove from Alabama to check it out. Both of us (my husband and I) were blown away with the wonderful flavors in each bite. Chef Rob personally delivered the dessert and took time... More

James Beard semifinalist Rob Connelly offers an amazing array of food, much of it foraged from the surroundings. His beer and wine lists are stunning but it's the food that will leave you speechless. The staff is incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful. Make your dinner reservation well in advance because this secret is out and you'll want to get in... More

Well, live within 2 hours of a drive from this restaurant. The owner has had rave reviews from gourmet magazines. I prefer the Kumquat when it was smaller and had ethnic food selections. This is a small community--the small grocery store was a reminder of travels, selection of items from larger cities. Last time, was rudely treated from the owner.

In one day you reviewed 15 places and hated almost all of them. The exception was Red Lobster who would have had a perfect score if they had brought you a seafood fork. I am really sorry for your run of bad luck. Since you only identify yourself as crazylady I'm not able to recall meeting you, and so I... More

We have had some great meals in our lives, but we have to say that this is about as good as it gets for a creative meal well prepared and well served. We thought we were in New York City--not Silver City!!! The only reason you will know you are not in NYC is the price. The ambiance of the... More

No way--that seems too good to be true, but it is! My boyfriend took me to Silver City for a romantic weekend and I was fortunate to have an amazing 5 course meal at the Curious Kumquat with well-paired wine to match. This foodgasmic culinary experience was one of the best meals of my life! Words can not describe this... More

What a great find in a little NM town. Starting off, the waitress was very helpful in choosing a wine that would pair well with my entree (Thai Duck). You pick your entree and the chef makes the remaining choices - appetizers and dessert. There were 3 appetizers.. starting with a very small one to begin waking up your senses,... More

Or Noma for that matter. The CK is an amazing restaurant. We had the most enjoyable, delectable meal we have had in years. I was especially impressed with the course that came out in a sealed jar out of which came cherry wood smoke when it was opened. Absolutely the best duck I have ever had. An amazing beer and... More

This is an unusual restaurant to find in such a small, out-of-the-way place. It belongs in a metropolitan area with a well-heeled clientele that would have to reserve a table a week in advance to get in. It has won all sorts of awards, has a famous or soon-to-be-famous chef who uses all sorts of local, fresh ingredients, and charges... More

First, thank you for the kind words, and I will quibble with one aspect of your review - at my age I'm neither famous nor soon-to-be anything, but still I appreciate the sentiment. Your one concern was the tone of announcing the prices for our entrees. Sonia's really good at making our space welcoming to everyone since we have such... More

My husband and I wanted to celebrate our wonderful mini vacation seeing the Gila Cliff Dwellings with a very special meal. Curious Kumquat was a dream come true, it is a beautiful restaurant with the requisite lovely colors one expects to see in the Southwest with it's heritage in Mexican tradition. The food is quite a brilliant departure and is... More
