The "kumquat" as I and many others call it is just the best. I recently had my birthday dinner there with a few other people and as always it was fantastic. My mouth waters thinking about the Thai duck. Seriously. I had the Duck Confit over a salad and it was the first time I have ever tried that. I... More

We were in town visiting relatives and had the tasting dinner as a birthday celebration. Each course was a creative tour de force using highly unusual ingredients. The beer and wine list is substantial for a restaurant this size. Service was excellent. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Silver City.

“It’s dirt, and you’re going to like it.” What a strange thing to hear when enjoying a meal! But this is what we heard while eavesdropping on the chef discussing the meal with diners at another table. And do you know what? He was RIGHT! There is no other restaurant quite like the Curious Kumquat. Only here have I had... More

The best black bean burrito and Gyro's in town. A great place to have lunch and enjoy the art that is ever changing.

We overheard someone recommending this restaurant while staying at Bear Mountain Lodge. Having located the restaurant and looked at the menu we realised this was going to be something quite special. We opted for the tasting menu - the quantity was just right and it was by far the best meal we had in New Mexico. The ingredients were fresh,... More

We and another couple enjoyed the five course tasting menu while vacationing in the Silver City area. The experience was a highlight of our trip. We had notified them that I have a tree nut allergy when we booked the reservation, and the chef was ready with some great substitutions. In no way did I feel shorted! We spoke briefly... More

I previously wrote a review of the fish tacos. As delicious as they were then, they have become even better! My wife has begun to order them with rice substituted for the tortillas. Attached are photos of the two variations, which also show the beans-and-guacamole side that can be added for only a dollar. Considering the superb quality and reasonable... More

The tasting menu was exquisite, service was impeccable, wine was delicious, and ambiance was unique. We saw the recent NM magazine article about the restaurant, and we drove from Alabama to check it out. Both of us (my husband and I) were blown away with the wonderful flavors in each bite. Chef Rob personally delivered the dessert and took time... More

James Beard semifinalist Rob Connelly offers an amazing array of food, much of it foraged from the surroundings. His beer and wine lists are stunning but it's the food that will leave you speechless. The staff is incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful. Make your dinner reservation well in advance because this secret is out and you'll want to get in... More

Well, live within 2 hours of a drive from this restaurant. The owner has had rave reviews from gourmet magazines. I prefer the Kumquat when it was smaller and had ethnic food selections. This is a small community--the small grocery store was a reminder of travels, selection of items from larger cities. Last time, was rudely treated from the owner.

In one day you reviewed 15 places and hated almost all of them. The exception was Red Lobster who would have had a perfect score if they had brought you a seafood fork. I am really sorry for your run of bad luck. Since you only identify yourself as crazylady I'm not able to recall meeting you, and so I... More
