It' worth making a trip to Silver City. I'm from San Francisco and love good food. The Curious Kumquat gave us one of the best meals ever. Beautifully and artfully presented. Definitely order the tasting menu and ask for a wine recommendation. Chef Rob is an artist with ingredients and combinations. This is a must for dedicated foodies.

It is perfect that this restaurant is in a town known for its art galleries, because each course is truly a work of art: presentation, taste, and aesthetically pleasing. Having learned basic cooking skills in Paris, France, I always dare a chef to astound me, and that was certainly the case at The Curious Kumquat.

Interesting food, whether lunch or dinner. Great, shaded outdoor seating. Pleasant service. Good wine list. My favorite place to eat in Silver City.

Last year, my girlfriend and I had the tasting dinner for the first time and were so impressed that for our last trip to Silver City we made getting dinner reservations again a top priority. It is a little difficult to describe the Curious Kumquat - and especially the tasting dinner - to people who have not been there. The... More

Holy Crap! Can I say that here? What a humbling review. We work our rears off to have this type of response to each experience and I'm so glad we did both times with you. Thank you so much. More

If you just judged from the presentation, service, and innovative cuisine, you'd think you were in a major city. That you can have this kind of a dining experience nestled in the high country of New Mexico in the middle of a funky little arts district is a huge treat!

Chef, did an incredible job of tantalizing our palette with foraged local ingredients. The 5 courses were just the right amount of variety to never bore you. for the pocket book conscious traveler this is a great substitute to the world renowned Noma restaurant in Denmark. We look forward to our next visit and the experience The Curious Cumkuat will... More

In our cross-country drive we ate at more fast food restaurants than a teenager. What a find Silver City and this restaurant was! We arrived too late for the full tasting menu ( at 8:00, the place closes at 8:30). The courses we did get were some of the best food we've ever had. Very inventive and interesting. I felt... More

Thanks for the kind words. We seat until 8:30 but often the early rush eliminates some of my key foraged ingredients so we have to limit what we can serve. But more often we have enough that if you came in before 8:30 you can do the full tasting menu. On another note, traveling with good food is so difficult.... More

Chef Rob is a genius! We loved the tasting menu and it reflected so much creativity, artistry, and insightful talent! It was certainly a most memorable experience and we will definitely return many times during our stay in Silver City. Oh, and the prices are beyond reasonable!

I vote with all the other reviewers who loved this restaurant. We opted for the rating menu and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I was creative and delicious and an incredible bargain. The service was attentive and friendly. It was also surprisingly vegetarian friendly, with two out of five entrees and all of the accompanying courses vegetarian.
