Very good meal and pleasant dining experience, but...

Four of us, w/ reservation, for dinner. We were on time and seated immediately. Seating is tight as it is not a large place (most in Brooklyn aren't). Ordered 3 mixed drinks plus a glass of wine, all very good. Service was very attentive throughout. Two of us split an order of mussels, the broth... read more

We went back recently after not having been for several years. Very disappointing. Even with appetizers and main courses only, no dessert or coffee, we were there for two and a half hours. Service was achingly slow and unfocused. Nothing on the menu really appealed. Im sure the bread came from a farm to our table, but it should have... More

If you want to have a conversation, go elsewhere. It's mobbed, you are smashed together with other patrons and the sound level makes it impossible to enjoy a chat with friends. Lots of kids, very family friendly.

I first learned of this restaurant upon reading Melanie Rehak's "Eating for Beginners" and became fascinated with the history of the people behind the scenes. Understanding the connection between the fishermen, farmers, and chefs brings a new appreciation for the food on one's plate. Applewood embodies "farm to table" with the charmingly rustic decor and photos of their farm in... More

This small restaurant was buzzing on a Wednesday evening. Delicious, innovative food and good portion sizes. Love the fact that they care about where they source their food. Highly recommended.

My husband and I were in NYC visiting our daughter for her b day. I chose this Park Slope restaurant in Brooklyn as her b day treat because she is VERY health conscious. We were NOT disappointed. Our order: organic wine squid summer vegetable pan roast grilled pork tasting menu carrot cake coffee dessert cocktail all of which was delicious.... More

This was our first encounter with the "farm to table" phenomenon and we really enjoyed it. The food was very fresh, tasty and beautifully presented; the service was top of the bill, friendly and chatty without being obsequious. The tastes were unusual, a little on the sweet side, but wonderfully balanced - my co-diner swooned over the roasted gnocchi with... More

I simply love this place. In the ever popular world of farm to table it is hard to beat this restaurant. They have their very own farm (Applewood Farms) in upstate NY, and their food has the taste and energy of freshness that one should expect with every meal. Nice wine and cocktails, along with a pleasant and knowledgeable waitstaff... More

This homely little nook of a restaurant delivers the freshest ingredients and a great presentation on some of the most creative, healthy and beautifully presented meals I've tried in a restaurant like this. While a little pricey, you can rest easy knowing that the eco-conscious procurement and preparation were worth it, and the time spent creating, preparing and serving your... More

Love the Meet the Farmer dinners, but our last three visits for 2 dinners and brunch, we're not as good as all the millions of times we've dined there since they opened. We feel it's fallen off a bit since the owners left and are F/T on the farm. Many bugs in my salad recently, and some meat way too... More
