We had the farmers special which was great.

My wife and I ate an early dinner here the night Lucinda Williams was giving a free concert in the Prospect Park Bandshell. We both opted for the farmers' menu, which was a fixed three course menu that included a wonderful salad, with thinly sliced radishes and parmesan crisps, and a dressing that... read more

One of the not-so-secret dining favorites in Park Slope, Applewood offers a seasonally changing menu. Ramps in Spring, root vegetables in Fall, unusual soups, and entrees built around local fish, meats and poultry are uniformly delicious. Touches like the homemade breads and trio of spreads, the often savory truffles and cookies that come with the bill and the homemade sodas... More

My favorite dining experience is breakfast or brunch. Applewood has won me over as a great brunch spot. Enjoyed the spring vegetable omelet but there is a wide variety of dishes to be had. Next time I'm eyeing the fried new york chicken green cabbage slaw and house-made cornbread. Relaxed atmosphere, great service. Just a reminder, they only accept cash... More

A Saturday night dinner with my wife and adult daughter was less satisfying than we expected. Although the service was excellent, the food did not live up to our expectations as our entrees had limited flavor. The prices were reasonable but we went away disappointed as we expected much more.

Four of us, w/ reservation, for dinner. We were on time and seated immediately. Seating is tight as it is not a large place (most in Brooklyn aren't). Ordered 3 mixed drinks plus a glass of wine, all very good. Service was very attentive throughout. Two of us split an order of mussels, the broth was very delicious but the... More

We went back recently after not having been for several years. Very disappointing. Even with appetizers and main courses only, no dessert or coffee, we were there for two and a half hours. Service was achingly slow and unfocused. Nothing on the menu really appealed. Im sure the bread came from a farm to our table, but it should have... More

If you want to have a conversation, go elsewhere. It's mobbed, you are smashed together with other patrons and the sound level makes it impossible to enjoy a chat with friends. Lots of kids, very family friendly.

I first learned of this restaurant upon reading Melanie Rehak's "Eating for Beginners" and became fascinated with the history of the people behind the scenes. Understanding the connection between the fishermen, farmers, and chefs brings a new appreciation for the food on one's plate. Applewood embodies "farm to table" with the charmingly rustic decor and photos of their farm in... More

This small restaurant was buzzing on a Wednesday evening. Delicious, innovative food and good portion sizes. Love the fact that they care about where they source their food. Highly recommended.

My husband and I were in NYC visiting our daughter for her b day. I chose this Park Slope restaurant in Brooklyn as her b day treat because she is VERY health conscious. We were NOT disappointed. Our order: organic wine squid summer vegetable pan roast grilled pork tasting menu carrot cake coffee dessert cocktail all of which was delicious.... More
