This was our first encounter with the "farm to table" phenomenon and we really enjoyed it. The food was very fresh, tasty and beautifully presented; the service was top of the bill, friendly and chatty without being obsequious. The tastes were unusual, a little on the sweet side, but wonderfully balanced - my co-diner swooned over the roasted gnocchi with... More

I simply love this place. In the ever popular world of farm to table it is hard to beat this restaurant. They have their very own farm (Applewood Farms) in upstate NY, and their food has the taste and energy of freshness that one should expect with every meal. Nice wine and cocktails, along with a pleasant and knowledgeable waitstaff... More

This homely little nook of a restaurant delivers the freshest ingredients and a great presentation on some of the most creative, healthy and beautifully presented meals I've tried in a restaurant like this. While a little pricey, you can rest easy knowing that the eco-conscious procurement and preparation were worth it, and the time spent creating, preparing and serving your... More

Love the Meet the Farmer dinners, but our last three visits for 2 dinners and brunch, we're not as good as all the millions of times we've dined there since they opened. We feel it's fallen off a bit since the owners left and are F/T on the farm. Many bugs in my salad recently, and some meat way too... More

Brunch was a great experience. Perfect venue to catch up with friends. Vibrant venue that leaves you ready to go out and do something with the rest of the day.

We have been going since Applewood first opened and it is always our special occassion place or place to bring the out-of-town Brooklyn doubters. We love the food, the service and the atmosphere. The commitment to local products was so keen that the owners "bought the farm" and even though David is no longer in the kitchen, the food is... More

Been to Applewood four times and I thought that I should write a review. Each time I have visited, I have always had a wonderful evening. The staff is friendly and the decor is simple yet cozy. You start with (MY FAV) some breads served with different types of spread (Always wonderful) and then your order your foods. The menu... More

I live in brooklyn and like to eat out a lot, but this is my favorite place to eat. I really like the style of cooking, focus on ingredients, and atmosphere of applewood. It is one of the more consistent places that i like to come back to on a regular basis, for brunch or dinner. It is not very... More

This is a high level restaurant that prides itself on fresh ingredients -- some from its own farm in upstate NY. That is all well&good and the ingredients did seem to be very good but the preparation feel short. Specifically most of the food we had was oversalted -- in particular the pork belly was in a broth or polenta... More

Can't really say too much good about the quality of the food and service here. We opened with a delicious artisanal cheese plate and sautéed Nantucket Bay scallops with a nicely balanced Bandidi Chianti. Vermont pork, quinoa croquettes and their own cured pastrami and home-canned peaches filled out the meal exquisitely. The roaring fireplace rounded out a wonderful snowy evening.
