We have eaten at the River Cafe several times through the years but not since Hurricane Sandy wiped them out in 2012. We were so pleased to have the same beautiful view of lower Manhattan combined with exceptional service and great food (albeit a prix fixe which we were not expecting). Wonderful experience and not a tourist trap!

Strange to return here and view the revised skyline after 9/11. Fun and romantic venue, good menu if just a little predictable. Also get there early sit at the bar to take in the views.

We booked in advance and requested a window view which was honoured and as we were lead to the table, we couldn't stop looking out of the window. The service throughout the meal was superb and all of the diners were well accommodated by the staff with requests for photographs. There is a small balcony outside looking over to manhattan... More

You cant beat the view. Enjoying NYC from a distance, with amazing food and service cant be beat. While it isnt cheap, its worth it for a special occasion or just for fun! :) loved every minute of this dining experience.

Like many others at this restaurant, we were there to celebrate a special occasion: my special birthday and our last night in NY. We booked months in advance and we're so glad we did. It took us longer than expected to get from our hotel in Manhattan to the restaurant but I guess that was because it was a Friday.... More

This was where my husband asked me to be his wife!! That of course was the best part of the evening. I can honestly say the food, atmosphere and service were equally as special. Everytime we travel to New York we just HAVE to go to the River Cafe, The Manhattan Skyline is breathtaking, ask for a window seat, make... More

We arrived at the charming River Café to celebrate our son's and daughter-in-law's upcoming birthdays. The gracious, charming entrance provided a lovely first impression. We were warmly greeted and seated by the window with excellent views of the water, sunset and later fireworks that lit up the River! We had excellent, reasonably priced wines (both white and red) and a... More

We chose the River Cafe as it was a special occasion and felt that the Manhattan skyline lit up at night would be a fantastic backdrop. The tasting menu was DELICIOUS. We all loved each course and the chocolate Brooklyn bridge dessert was perfect to end it all. At first it seemed like it was an older persons type of... More

We visited the River Cafe just before Hurricane Sandy and had been waiting for the opportunity to visit again. This September we were able to make that return visit and it exceeded our expectations. We arrived shortly before sunset and enjoyed a couple of drinks at the bar before taking our table near the window with a fantastic view. We... More
