Nice authentic French bistro

Nice version of a French bistro/cafe: carafes of cold rose, nice steak, salade Nicoise, always a cold bottle of water. Sit outside in the warm weather and you'll feel like you're on a small French city. Try the baked clams for a treat.

I live near Bar Tabac and I always so happy to have dinner here. I'm a native New Yorker and consider myself a longtime foodie and I cannot resist saying that for me, Bar Tabac has the best burger and fries in Brooklyn. It's easy to say that but everything from the freshest high quality meat, perfect brioche type bun... More

I have been a patron of Bar Tabac since I moved to the neighborhood in 2002. They have always been a great standby for a burger, Croque-monsieur, or a chevre salad, or perhaps some late-night pasta, or even just a couple of drinks, and people watching. It is still all of these things. However, this past visit was slightly disappointing.... More

We stumbled upon this corner bar near our hotel on our first day. The bartender provided amazing service and mixed drinks. The locals were extremely friendly and helpful with what to do in the area. We had the charcuterie plate which was good. We felt at home and eventually came back the next day.

Jeeaazus, best burger ever!! I always ask medium rare, and it's the best burger i ever ate in my life. The waiters and waitresses are very beautiful too =) I went with my husband, with my brother in law, with my parents, and everybody loved it. One of the many good surprises in Brooklyn.

This place is consistently great. The food is always on point and the vibe is right on. Salad Nicoise and the burger are great. Sometimes the service can be slow and actually very rarely get the same server twice. It'd be cool to get the same server twice.

This is a very friendly and informal restaurant which is great for brunch or lunch as well as dinner. At the weekend there is often live music. Booking is not possible but usually a short wait can get one a seat.

As a recent transplant to Brooklyn living very near the two restaurant rows on Smith and Court Streets, we are challenged to find a destination restaurant for lunch/brunch/dinner that hits all the critical mandatories: great food, very reasonable prices and an accommodating staff. Bar Tabac hits the sweet spot and crushes the 150 other local competitors. Plus, every weekend features... More

This was not only one of the best meals I've ever eaten in my life, it was served with a smile, professionally, friendly, with just the right wine, suggestions from the server, and all at a VERY reasonable price. We've eaten here before and always liked it but this visit topped the charts! The seating can be in the busier... More

We took our daughter here for her 25th birthday. The food was enjoyed by all of us - with very different tastes - and the service, especially their recognition of my daughter's birthday, was great.
