Across from BAM so make a reservation

Berlyn opens at 5:30 and fills quickly when there's an event at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Best to make a reservation as the place is small and friendly. I started with a kale Caesar salad that was delicious. My wife had the mache salad, also very tasty. I had the spazel primavera while my wife... read more

Without having time for dinner before a comedy show at Brooklyn Academy of Music, we noticed this restaurant across the street from the entrance. We booked a table then and there post-performance in their covered outdoor, side patio. The show went much longer than anticipated, but our table was held as hungry diners started pouring in. The cuisine is a... More

We went to Berlyn last night for German food. This is more of a "nouvelle" German cuisine. It is good, but if you are looking for real homestyle German food, this is not the place for that, although the schnitzle seemed pretty authentic. This is also not a "Beer Hall", it's a bit high end, so if you are looking... More

We went for an early dinner before the show. The restaurant is located right across the street from BAM. Drinks and beer and wine choices were good. Service was good. Food was not real good. We had the charcuterie which was good but came with huge pieces of like Texas toast. I had spaetzle. It had cheese sauce that was... More

We always feel welcome in this warm and intimate space, with a dependable menu and great staff. The food is consistently delicious and interesting, and appreciate the consistent choice of vegetarian offerings.

Convenient for BAM performances. A very good job is done with the usual craft cocktails, even the Mule. The bar and dining room give a vague feeling that Victor Lazlo might be arriving soon. While you are waiting, order the charcuterie, a soup, or a small plate beet salad. Peruse the wine list, in which German wines predominate along with... More

Terrific atmosphere for drinks and delicious food. Loved the schnitzel! The appetizers were terrific too! Intimate dining room that is warm and cozy. Will go to Berlyn again!

We went to this restaurant before attending a performance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music which is directly across the street. The lovely ambiance was accented by gorgeous Christmas decorations and candlelight. The service was prompt and attentive, especially when we explained we had a show to attend. The food was delicious and creative, although not a huge menu. All... More

Welcoming restaurant right across from BAM. Not your typical German fare. We had house pickles (marinated veggies) and a homemade pretzel as appetizers. ihad pumpkin-leek strudel/ steamed veggies and my friend had the duck with German noodles. Warm rolls. Apple strudel for dessert. Our server was excellent. Would definitely return.

I was concerned about vegetarian options, but I needn't have worried. The selection was excellent, creative menu, great service and slightly kitsch but inviting decor. Lovely.
