Great tacos, esp chicken mole! We often go for happy hour when tacos are just $2 each. Great music too - love Mana!
Well, I wanted to find a restaurant that was in Brooklyn close to where I use to live when my residence was Brooklyn. I used my IPhone to find a good Mexican place. Boy, did we strike it rich. The first thing I noticed was that the place was packed. We were seated after a 15 minute wait. Our meals... More
This place was amazing, the service, the food, the atmosphere. If I lived in brooklyn I would eat here once a week.We also got this fundito dip,for the whole table, incredible,so fresh.
A friend invited me for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and care evident in the food. We ordered burritos, taco,s and a fabulous salad....For desert we ordered flan and rice pudding. All very tasty and clearly prepared with care. The decor of the restaurant was also very nice, as was the service. Prices were very reasonable,... More
Chavela's used to be on Classon Avenue in a space a quarter of the size with a devout following of locals and adventurous souls. The 'newish' space (at least a year, maybe two?) expanded the space and the menu and you won't be disappointed. A great Mexican menu with a good sprinkling of less familiar dishes to try out. Get... Great deal on brunch- $15 for a big plate of food, a Mexican pastry, and coffee or juice. I've been coming here for a few years and the food is always delicious for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Make sure to try the chorizo and potato mix in the torta, tacos, quesadilla, or tostada. On the other hand, the tortilla soup... More
We decided to get out of the city for the night and head to Brooklyn. Chavela's is located in the Crown Heights area. The restaurant was buzzing and very busy so remember to book ahead. The menu was a little confusing at first but the waitress is happy to help. Some of the dishes are smaller so you can choose... More
Just had a wonderful, fresh and tasty lunch here. I had the enchilada mole and it was just PERFECT! Daughter had a fish taco and vegetarian taco and there wasn't a crumb left. Everything is home-made. Nothing comes out of a can or bottle -- not the rice and beans, not the taco shells and not even the sangria. Ambience... More
Franklin Avenue is the new Williamsburg and Chavela's is the hippest spot on the street. The tortilla soup was spicy and delicious and a bit thicker than is typical in my experience. Delicious. My empanadas were filled with seafood and spinach and the sauce provided was piquant and wonderful. I wouldn't order the chicken tamales in mole again as they... More
