Roberts Review

Great sandwich shop in the middle of Red Hook.... You have to try any sandwich with the fresh mozzarella... The mozzarella is made fresh everyday...Great sandwiches. . They're a little expensive but it's worth it. .

I've been grabbing lunch here for years and definitely set in my order. I always get a simple platter of potato and eggs casserole with a side of sliced roast beef. Prices can be a little high for a deli type setting but the food is good. Recommend for a quick stop.

Best roast beef ever in my mind, best sandwich shop in 5 boroughs in my mind, best class act deli and old school charm in my mind. honored by the Italian American association as an Italian icon and received the Frank Sinatra tribute award, given to only 100 businesses around the country for their contributions to Italian American culture. The famous defontes sandwich shop of brooklyn is open on Staten Island. With all the perfection they have in Bklyn for decades they opened on water st off bay. I've had the roast beef, steak pizziola, sausage and peppers and chicken parm and all were made with the famous defontes touch. The only thing wrong here is that they close... More

Visiting here as part of a tour, we really enjoyed the potato and eggs with Virginia ham sandwich and the friendly staff and blue collar atmosphere of the shop only added to the experience. The range of choices here is vast.

The only problem was that there are so many choices that I had an anxiety attack during my decision. I went with the prosciutto, mozzarella, eggplant and pepper sandwich. It was great in NY and saved the rest for when I returned home in Florida!

My father ate here while growing up in Redhook as a boy. The place has been around since the 1920's I'm told. He recalled the overstuffed sandwiches on the terrific bread. By chance I happened to work in the neighborhood years later. I ate here more than dare to imagine over 17 years. Hakuna Matata! We have continued the circle... More

They have fresh meat and deli products. They give big portion of sandwich and soup. They are very reasonable compare to New York city price.
