This looked like a very high end restaurant and came with several good recommendations. But it was just okay. I wouldn't avoid it, but it wasn't as good as I expected.

Probably the best food above the 49th parallel. From the moment we were seated by the host to the time we left, we were never once disappointed. Our server never let my drink run out, and I was never asked "how is everything" when my mouth was full. No Alaskan trip is complete until you try this place.

Very lively, rather noisy. But extremely friendly, good service. First course included. Salad fresh as can be. Even a blade of grass among the lettuce. Soup (kale-sausage) was superb! We ordered halibut in macadamia nut crust and pork chop. Big portions....no room for dessert. Known for its wine list. Downtown, in Marriott hotel. Wide mix of people. Some large tables, some young couples with... More

Thanks for all the kind words, Kelly! We're doing our best to bring a really unique dining experience to Fairbanks, so it's always nice to hear that we hit the mark. I'm so glad you enjoyed the salad, soup, and halibut, and I hope you had a chance to try out some of our wine. If you're ever back in... More

The atmosphere and service was great but the food was bad. I had the scallops and my friend had the half duck. The sauce that was served with scallops was like overcooked teriyaki sauce and the duck was over cooked as well. It was really a downer to pay so much for the food and feel like you could have... We aim to serve far more delicious and sophisticated food than the local walk-in restaurant, Lani, and I'm sorry your experience didn't give you a better taste of what we do. We're not known for serving overcooked food, but occasionally we do slip up. I apologize and wish I would've been able to make things right while you were here.... More

I ordered salmon. They over cooked it. I sent it back. About 20 minutes later (while my husband's meal was hot and ready to be eaten). I was served a new plate of over cooked salmon. Water refills and tea refills were hard to come by. It took us forever to get our bill. I wasn't able to get the... More

This is really disappointing to read, and it does not represent a normal experience by one of our guests -- I'm sorry it was yours. Serving overcooked salmon is simply unacceptable, especially since it happened twice. Had I known about what was happening, I absolutely would've made things right. Since I did not have that opportunity, I hope you'll accept... More

Interesting menu that shows ambition. Local ingredients, but exotic spices and flavors. These laudable intentions, however, are weak in their implementation. Scallops would be good, but were overcooked, way overcooked. Salmon was fine but a rather lemony sauce almost killed its flavor. Wine menu very good with fine options also by the glass. Service was very good: nice, attentive and... More

I appreciate the feedback, and do know that I will pass it along to our kitchen crew. I wish you would've let us know while you were here though -- overcooked food and poorly seasoned fish are not what we're known for, so we would've been happy to make things right. If you return again, I know we can do... More

I had the duck and my wife had a sea scallops with some shared pot stickers. The meal was a bit on the pricey side but well worth it ($100 with tip - no desert). Service was exemplary for this size restaurant. Didn't except this from Fairbanks (not criticizing Fairbanks).

My expectations were not high in the culinary department coming to Alaska. Once again I am pleasantly surprised. Nice wine selection. Speciality cocktails. The menu is fresh and interesting. Even the Spinach Salad with Grilled Shrimp has a splash of flair with goat cheese, bacon and pine nuts. The cream brûlée with fresh berries was the perfect finish. Even the... More

OK -- I had heard about this place ( I live in FAI) that it was (reviews were mixed) and expensive (that part is true) so finally decided to try it out. It was expensive but the food was GREAT. The appetizer King Crab and Artichokes still lingers in my memory. We asked for our meat rare - both the... More

Don't worry, Shelby -- we're definitely listening! I'll take your feedback about the Caesar salad back to our kitchen staff. Thanks for letting us know. My wife and I are in Fairbanks for 4 months and decided to celebrate our 3 year anniversary with a highly rated restaurant in town. We were seated on the patio at 7:50pm and had our water from the busser a few minutes later. It wasn't until 8:10 that our server Maggie S. arrived at our table and we placed... More

This is not the type service we aim to provide, Joseph, and I'll speak to Maggie in order to figure out what happened -- this feedback about her is certainly not the norm. Waiting an hour for your entree is far too long. That said, I'm thrilled you enjoyed the food. Alaskan salmon is truly one of a kind. All... More
