lovely diner, typical diner fare with fast service and coffee-refills

nothing outstanding, but it's the must-have diner in the university area. i'd say i eat there at least 20 times per year. they have the best liver-and-onions in fairbanks as far as i'm concerned. service is efficient (other reviews say "grumpy", but i prefer to think of it as simply "cold and... read more

With a name like Sourdough you would think they would feature those hot cakes. But no... One can't go wrong with eggs and bacon for breakfast unless you are some kind of fresh fruit and oatmeal person. But once in awhile pancakes hit the spot. Omelette's are also good on cold mornings in Alaska and Sam's serves a pretty good... More

Excellent service including specific response to my question about a menu item; delicious food; good value for the price

This place has tasteless food and grumpy staff. I asked the lady for fresh coffee and she said it was but I knew it wasn't, tasted like tree bark. Never going again

Stopped at Sam's while visiting Fairbanks. Food is good, but nothing outstanding. Prices comparable to other places in the area. We arrived at lunch time, and the parking lot was full, but we found a spot, and were seated quickly and served promptly. The reindeer sausage were good with the pancakes.

Son loves it, so we took his family for Sunday brunch after church. It was great to sample reindeer sausage, ample portions, and courteous staff, but it wasn't 5 star worthy. No complaints, and maybe I had sticker shock.

Nothing special. I'd just as soon eat at home. It must have a local following that keeps it busy, but I just remember everything tasting too bland and not at all memorable. Pricing was high for breakfast and the quality.

Sam's Sourdough Cafe  The great improvement has taken place in the decor of this restaurant. If you are a antique car enthusiast, then you will appreciate the many old car photos in the back seating area. Now let's talk food... overall it's ok, but nothing great. Not a repeat location for most, but they do have a local following that... More

From the moment we walked in it was like the staff could honestly care less. We stood there for a few minutes until some lady not designated as staff said just to sit anywhere......we found only one vacant booth but still had dirty dishes and food all over it. So I went to go flag down an employee to get... More

A great filling breakfast at any time of the day. A must stop on our hockey trips with lots of hungry hockey players in tow.
