This place used to make omelettes that melted in your mouth. Not so much any more. But the pies are great. The potatoes are now premade where they used to be sliced and cooked with bacon and other goodies. The food is good and there is lots, just not like the olds. If you are heading out to Manely or... While in the Fairbanks area we felt we had to stop at the Hilltop Truckstop made famous on the show Ice Road Truckers. The restaurant was clean and smoke-free. There was a separate enclosed room for those who preferred to smoke. We ordered rhubarb pie ala mode and coffee as we love rhubarb pie. We were informed they were out... More

I've stopped here on three of four trips to the area; this time I had bacon and hashbrowns, which were fine. I had originally ordered the sourdough pancakes--as much as I love sourdough bread, these pancakes were way too sour for me so they took them away (just realized I was still charged for them, though). I originally was going... More

The food was good. Better than most truck stops. The home made pies were great. My husband and I shared a piece of dutch apple a la mode. One piece was enough for two, especially with the large scoop of ice cream that came with it. Beautiful drive out to the restaurant from Fairbanks.

If you want a slice of bitter disappointment rather than pie, then you should definitely go here. We have been about 4 times and there is usually only 3 or 4 pies to choose from but today we drove the 30 minutes to get pie and they only had ONE kind!!! What kind of place that is known for their... More

We stopped here today for a cup of coffee and a slice of pie; my husband of course ended up ordering the special of the day spaghetti with meatballs and garlic bread. He rated the spaghetti as only "ok" nothing special. I ordered the coconut pie and my husband ordered the lemon pie. Both of the pies could have tasted... More

I have been going to Hilltop Truck Stop since 1995 and the food and the service is great. The hamburger steak dinner is enough for two people but if you have room do not miss a piece of their homemade pies which are wroth stopping for by themselves. If you are traveling further North you can pick up not only... More

We stopped here for Breakfast on a Tour to the Arctic Circle. With all the healthy eating focus, it had been ages since I'd had chicken fried steak. And this was melt in your mouth good! We were there quite early so few other customers. Service was excellent. As others have mentioned the pies are killer! Don't know if it's... More

I like finding local type of places to eat, and Hilltop Truck Stop is about as "local" as you get since you pretty much have go out of your way to get there. I had the Halibut sandwich, which was ok, and my wife had grilled ham and cheese, and I would just say they were ok. The pie, however,... More

We ate breakfast here on our way to the Arctic Circle. It was ample and good. We ate a piece of pie to test their reputation and it was outstanding.
