I came here due ti the high rating. The only thing I can think of is that this place is rated highly due to nostalgia. Maybe the locals grew up loving it as kids and the low prices keep them coming back. Now I must admit im not a huge soft serve guy but I honestly prefer McDonald's soft serve... More

Old school, only 3 flavors, Chocolate Vanilla & Strawberry. Cash only, no websii]te, no phone, only open part of the year. Still the best Ice Cream in Virginia. It is a 1 hour drive for us, but it is worth it.

Great 1950's style soft ice cream. The best I've ever eaten. We were lucky in that there was no line and the service was very fast

When I initially moved to Fredericksburg, everyone said, "Oh, you have to go to Carl's!" So, I did & it's a miracle I'm not still standing in that long line. The ice cream is pricey; the taste is no different or better than any other ice cream and the wait is definitely not worth it! Go to Dairy Queen instead,... More

Price, lines, location don't matter, really. Carl's is a Fredericksburg icon. One you taste their soft-serve ice cream you'll understand why.

Family in the area said we had to stop here, they had the best malts. I got a chocolate malt and it was OK but I should have ordered extra malt I guess. The ice cream was good, but I don't understand the long lines that we saw when driving by there the previous evening. I guess there aren't other... More

Have serviced this area for over 25 +years on my work schedule. This is must stop for Ice cream. A little step back in time to more of the simple times in life. A night out for good ice cream & good family time .This place is a landmark with good old fashioned ice cream & someplace to mark off... More

Although I think their ice cream is overpriced, we keep going back. We like the ice cream cones the best, and the root beer float slushy. Only the chocolate malt is a disappointment. Everything else is always good.

I don't like waiting in line but the ice-cream was certainly worth the wait and it was a fun thing to do on a first visit to Fredericksburg.

Step back in time to enjoy Carl's frozen custard a Fredericksburg, Virginia landmark. Best frozen custard I've ever had, reasonably priced, refreshing, and fun! The building is an old-fashioned ice cream take-out which always has a line wrapped around the building. The young girl taking our order looked like the "girl next door" which made the experience even more nostalgic.... More
