Bistro Bethem is an all around neuvo/international food place! The wine, art and service makes it a great place to go especially on weekends with live eclectic music. One of my favorites in Fredericksburg.

We stopped in after Orientation weekend and had a great lunch! Fresh food, great service, and good portions. Would definitely go again!

Five siblings, their spouses and our 91 year old mom were recently welcomed for a Mother's Day dinner. We did not dine right on mother's day, but the day before when the restaurant was hosting a local college graduation dinner crowd as well. I believe that may have been the reason there was a high level of noise that night.... More

I stopped into Bistro Bethem for a drink and quick bite before meeting friends elsewhere. Very interesting cocktail list and I overheard the bartender telling another customer they make most of their mixers in house. I had already ordered a beer, a local brew called "Killer Kolsh" which was light and crisp but not lacking in flavor. In fact, 4... More

My fiance and I spent a weekend in Fredericksburg and we were excited to visit Bistro Bethem based on their online menu. We really wanted to like this place, but my overwhelming impression was that the chef was trying very hard to be haute cuisine - but wasn't quite there yet on the talent end. We shared a unique appetizer... More

We made phone reservations for a special occasion, hoping to be overwhelmed. We weren't. The service was very good, the food wasn't. My wife's appetizer had burnt pita bread that was turned upside down in an effort to hide the burnt side. My steak was tough and tasteless. The rest of the meal was mediocre, I could have done it... I was surprised to see several negative reviews for Bistro Bethem because our experience has always been first rate - both for food and service. Blake is a master craftsman in the kitchen. He has an especially deft touch with seafood.

How do they get their raving reviews? We ate there for an anniversary and it was anything but special. Split pea and ham soup had 5 or 6 split peas. Was more like dishwater. Had some steak strips that may have come from a can. Ordered potato fingers and got 4 tiny potatoes that were covered over by the few... More

Terrible service, slow food at ridiculous prices. Went to celebrate graduation weekend with long-standing reservation. We were the second table seated after they kept everyone waiting outside opening late. It took forever to get through the meal -- about 2 1/2 hours and we skipped dessert because we didn't want to waste another hour waiting around for it. Small over... More

This restaurant was the #1 recommendation from our B&B manager when we checked in, and it certainly lived up to her glowing description. The restaurant is located in the heart of Fredericksburg. We walked a few blocks from our B&B to reach it. I had made a reservation, but there were plenty of tables when we arrived at 7:30 p.m.... More
