Stopped in while taking in the sights of downtown Fredericksburg. Helpful and attentive staff, excellent food. Had a reasonably-priced lunch for two at a special rate as part of restaurant week we sat by the window. The restaurant was a little on the loud side however.

Had a great meal here with some friends. Staff was pleasant and efficient. Food was fresh and innovative without being fussy. Menu was smaller than a typical restaurant but still a varied selection was available. I actually prefer to have fewer choices of higher quality than a huge menu where attention to detail cannot be accomplished. I would easily recommend... More

This local owned restaurant serves freshly prepared and in season cuisine. The meat comes from a local farm. We have been coming to Bistro Bethem for the past three years and have enjoyed the quality and creativity of their menu. Last night, my wife and I split an orange-chili-cinnamon brined grilled quail appetizer on a bed of pulled lamb and... More

Interesting fare, quality sources, inspired design, but lukewarm and distracted service, get a sense that the staff see themselves as above the patrons. Still, the environment is nicely decorated, warm, and charming. I had my small intimate wedding dinner at Bistro Bethem, so it has some nostalgia for me. However, I wouldn't eat there with small children...child friendly food but... More

We came in with my daughter to have lunch. There were 2 tables occupied, the rest was available. We waited to be seated but there was no staff on sight. One of the customers told us to sit whenever we liked but we should choose the upper level because the lower level is not heated (outside temperature was 28F). We... More

Such high hopes based on the reviews turned into such mediocrity. The service was attentive but a little slow base on the hour and the crowd. Despite the sparse crowd, the noise was horrible. (Please, restaurateurs, pay attention to the acoustics. No one wants to have to shout at their lunch companion or ask them to repeat themselves) OK, the... More

We were in town for one night and chose this based on reviews. The restaurant looks small from the street but actually has a large interior and is nicely decorated. The waiter's wine suggestion was perfect and it is half price on Sunday's. We both had the clams which had a delicious broth with fennel and potatoes giving it a... More

This was a nice surprise: a pre-Christmas lunch with business associates. The menu was very varied, particularly in terms of well-presented, well-cooked lunch fare. There was a very nice variety of entrees and sandwiches. The turkey, brie and apricot was truly delicious. The roast beef was flavorful and just right and the pizzas and salads were superb. We treated ourselves... More

Establishment was recommended by some friends and we weren't disappointed. Most of our party had a lamb entree and I had a chicken/duck pot pie. All were good. Staff is very friendly and they also have a lot of specialty drinks, micro beers, etc. Good spot to stop.

This restaurant is next to La Petit Auberge, it is much larger, than it looks from the street, the food is exceptional,, the service is superb, waitresses are going out of their way to help You. They serve microbrewery beers, many from Virginia. I myself like yinglieng, or bass ale, not so much Miller lite. They have a beer with... More

Thank you Andrew for the kind words! We try to keep our beer and wine list fresh. The menu is constantly changing, we always have local options at the bar and coming out of our kitchen. All of the artists that hang in the Bistro are local, and you know how we love to support the nearby talent! We rotate... More
