Quaint historic intimate atmosphere and that is he draw.

We had eaten here a couple of years ago and had great experiences. This time was not so good. The bottle of wine was great. The bread was dry and tasted like it was old. The salad was ok lots of ice burg lettuce, not my favorite. I had the gnocchi de a more gnocchi with crab. I asked if... read more

What an unexpected experience in Virginia. We have enjoyed Italian food in Boston, New York, New Haven, and San Francisco, and did not expect to be as satisfied in Fredricksburg. But this was a totally great experience! The veal parm and eggplant rollatini were superb, as was the ambiance and service. This is a must place to dine.

Visited Renatos during Restaurant Week. Our waitress was not friendly. The bread was stale and crumbled in our hands. The steak was covered in sauce perhaps to disguise the fatty piece of meat. That entree was clearly not worth $20. The busboy hovered over us and snatched our plates off the table. This was definitely not a pleasant dining experience... More

The ice tea was good! Unfortunately, that's where the compliments end. The lasagna was deconstructed, looking like it had already been eaten and regurgitated onto the plate. Frankly, the chain Italian restaurant Carrabba's has a much better lasagna. The crab pierogies were like no pierogies I have ever eaten before and the white sauce was way too heavy. Neither my... Normally my husband and I don't go out to eat in Italian restaurants as we make our own pasta at home. However, it was restaurant week, we'd never been to Renato's but had heard good things about them, so we decided to give it a go. The good-sized portion of Oysters Rockefeller for our appetizer was delicious as was our... More

We really enjoyed our meal. The food was delicious an that little bit different with the pasta being served on the side. The staff were attentive and polite. It was great value at $20 for three courses, wine and coffee.

Took F. O. R. E. V. E. R. for the waiter to show up for our order and he was very reluctant to answer questions. Maybe because he was so rushed. The food was good, but so not special. Canned black olives on the salad - kalamata would be better. Under ripe tomato for the salad caprese. Shrimp Picatta over... More

I have eaten here dozens of times and have never had a bad meal or experience. The ambiance is good, food is impeccable and the service is above board

Like I said it's bin better. Portions small, service all over the place, not knowing where everything is. Expensive, may not go back. It's a shame been in town a long time.

Our experience here was not good. Maybe it is because I am Italian, but I found the food to be fair at best. The restaurant was not busy while we were there yet it took our waiter 25 minutes to bring the dessert menu we requested. Then another 20 minutes to return to our table to take our dessert order....
