Great food with wide spectrum of selections in a formal setting

We like La Petite for both "special occasions" and for making a routine night out "special." Most dishes have sauces typical for French chefs that add a unique or unusual twist to an otherwise routine offering. I've been eating here off and on since 1989. The cooking has morphed to adapt to Virginian tastes and appetites. The portions have grown in size and the menu has become a compromise of content (brie, roquefort and manchego on the same plate? no.) and language (duckling à l'orange? Come on, just pick one language and stick to it). There,... More

It is a wonderfully decadent dish at La Petite (people who eat here regularly just call it La Petite -- drop the eggplant). The best thing about La Petite is the consistency of delicious food. Not the best I've ever eaten, but ALWAYS good. And the professional, friendly staff run a close second. Recommended for all special occasions -- Never... More

I have eaten at LaPetite many times and am always very pleased. This is one of the very nicest places to eat in the area (worth the drive if coming from a distance). It is "upscale" and there will be no disappointments if you are looking to be treated to a quality lunch or dinner experience.

I'm normally a fan of this restaurant, but I don't think I'd go again during restaurant week. It didn't exactly feature those things I'd consider to be the best of what they serve. Our group had two that got what I think we're ribs, and they said they were very good. I had the fish, which was so-so, the potatoes... More

Having read the reviews of this restaurant, some of which were pretty negative, I booked our Valentine's dinner there with some trepidation, partly because I hate writing negative reviews and would loathe to be forced into one here. To my relief, the restaurant, server, food and ambiance (although packed to the gills for the special occasion) was delightful. Our server,... More

I wrote an earlier review of La Petite Auberge giving it one star because of the fact that they did not honor a reservation for Valentine's Day that I had made months in advance. We were never seated and were treated as though we were annoying them. That review was pulled after the restaurant responded with a complaint that this... More

This was my last night in Fredericksburg so I'm so glad I chose this place. I sat at the bar and soon realized that this was a local spot. It has a mature crowd and everyone is nice. The bartender Wayne was nice and attentive. This is a fine dining restaurant with a bar atmosphere like Cheers. The food was... More

This restaurant was recommendation from our hotel. The food was ok, waitress was very nice, the restaurant is very dated and I didn't find one real French entrée on the menu. My husband I have never gone back.
