Food triumphs over weird counter service

Full disclosure: We love to eat out and rarely have the opportunity to do so, and when we do, we usually have our kids with us. Over the past three years living in Fredericksburg, we've had the opportunity to go to Eileen's several times. Housed inside an historic former church, customers queue... read more

Loved how this used to be a church and is now a yummy café. The food was great and the cookies were even better. Fun, relaxed atmosphere.

We were there during restraint week and were blown away with the portions and quality. My wife had the brisket sandwich and cucumber salad and I had the chorizo wrap with a cup of the chili/corn soup. Their idea of a cup is more like a small wash bowl. The soup was topped with shave parmesan cheese that just complemented... More

Quirky building, friendly staff--drop dead fabulous pastries and sandwiches!! The atmosphere is conducive to trendy professionals, families with young ones, stroller moms, and seniors reading the morning paper. Lots of seating, and street parking right in the heart of old town Fredericksburg. Welcoming and the food is so GOOD!! I am addicted to the eggs Benedict, and the pecan danishes,... More

[My wife and I just returned home from leading a group of 50 seniors from our church on a four-day, charter bus outing to the Elkins, WV area. This was one of many places we visited during our trip and the review is oriented to our experience travelling by bus as a large group.] Following our riding tour of Fredericksburg... More

Not pretentious; located in an old church building downtown. Great food prepared with fresh ingredients, displayed and served from glass-enclosed cases. The desserts are eye-popping and seasonal. Fast and satisfying. Dine inside at tables for 2 to 8, or at a table in the courtyard under the shade trees and surrounded by flowers. A great lunch spot!

We were walking around Fredericksburg and just happened upon this gem! We weren't hungry and it wasn't lunch time but the building itself with its " bakery" sign drew us in. What delicious pastries and breads! Friendly staff. Everything looked yummy. The Napoleon was wonderful, the Rosemary, garlic cheese bread was tasty and the cinnamon pull apart was melt in... More

The food was AMAZING especially after running the historic half. I heard amazing reviews from past competitors and of course Trip advisor. I got the rasberry napoleon, chicken provenca sandwich, sweet lime tea, and cucumber tomato parmessan salad. The food was super light, tasty, and the staff was so nice. You can tell there's not many people in fredericksburg except... More

Eileens is perfect for meeting friends or family and is often filled with college professors or book club readers, students, church goers, and people out for a meal with their parents. They have a beautiful outdoor dining area in the back, and recently put in some benches in the front so those with pets can wait outside. The ordering line... More

I planned to arrive in Fredericksburg in time for a early lunch and then go to the lacrosse game at UMW. I found Eileen's on Trip Advisor and knew a self-service bakery lunch was perfect for us. We arrived about 11:30 and parked on the street. There were already people dining at tables in front of the church. We ordered... More
