Wonderful setting in the old train station in downtown Fredericksburg. Great, friendly staff. Good selection of German beer and wine. Outstanding menu of German dishes, but plenty of other choices also available. Unbelievable portion sizes. My only complaint, and this is a personal one, is that several of the dishes I would have selected had mushrooms. Great dessert selection but... More

Was a fun place to go once. Don't think we will go again. The main dining area was quiet like a library, and when we would talk above a whisper our voices echoed. The food was very good. They brought tons of sides to go with the food, which was very fun.

This is one of the best and most authentic german restaurants I have visited outside of the country of Germany. The food was very tasteful and the portions were huge. it was definitely worth the money! The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We loved the desserts too! Took a good deal of food home for a... More

This is by far the best German Restaurant I have ever eaten at in the United States and in Germany. The Pretzel Appetizer is just awesome, as well as the house mustard with beer tones. There beers go SO well with the food and are just fabulous. The sausage sampler is must have and the sauerkraut is just SO flavorful.... More

The Bavarian Chef turned an unused train station into a lovely German-style restaurant. They offer all manner of schnitzel. I had the pork with a creamy onion sauce and fried onions on top. The sides are served family-style. My favorites were the creamed corn and the spaetzel with just a hint of nutmeg). The portions are large so be prepared... More

Located in a former train station, the atmosphere is very interesting. Server was very knowledgeable about the various imported beers they serve. We both had the summer pork schnitzel special and each portion could have easily fed two people, so beware. The main portion was very good. It was served with a choice of "sides" which are served family style.... More

We met our friends half way to spend a few days together. We decided to eat here the first night of our long weekend. The food was outstanding, the service was outstanding and so was the atmosphere. I could have eaten at the Bavarian Café every night. I could not stop thinking about how fantastic the food was.

We love this place, in the old train station in Fredericksburg and dog friendly if dining on patio. Never had a bad meal here and the service is above board in every way. The chef is quite talented in bringing out the genuine German Flavors. The jäger schnitzel was a perfect blend of the Flavors with a hint of citrus.... More

not only was the food excellent, it was plentiful. Our waiter, the Chef and hostess's son, was fabulous. He walked us through the beer flight and was spot on. We chatted with the hostess, couldn't be nicer and gave us tips on what to do in the area the next day. When we are back in the area, this is... More

I was not expecting to fall in love with this place. I checked it out because I heard it was an amazing German restaurant. It definitely was worth the visit. Be ready to pay $$ for your meals. We went as a party of 5 but only payed for 3 people. Our bill after taxes and tips was over $100... More
