Can your fellow diners ruin your meal? Yep, especially if they include two out of control boys who never shut up or sat down the entire time. We made a valiant effort, having good assistance on the beer, choosing a dunkel something that was dark but not too strong. Nice salads, then came the onslaught of vegetables and spaetzle to... We went out for our cherished weekend drive and found ourselves hungry and in Fredericksburg. Using our trusty TA app we discovered this wonderful restaurant. We called to make sure they were open and sure enough they would be opening in 20 minutes and being fans of German food we headed over. Located in the old train depot, Bavarian Chef... More

Recently dined at the Bavarian Chef in Fredericksburg with my family of four. We were lucky to find it open for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere upon entering is warm and inviting and the employees are the same. They all greeted us with a friendly welcome. As soon as we were seated we are drink order was taken... More

I can't begin my review of this place. The service was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere perfection. The food, OMG, where to begin! We started out with the Pretzel, I am a big fan of Pretzels so it would have been hard to mess this one up. The pretzel it self was soft, warm, not too salty, perfectly crunchy. Now where... More

Stopped here for lunch, cucumber salad was awesome, and French Onion Soup smothered with cheese, very good. The soup was a little salty as sometimes happens with French Onion soup. Bread basket had a wonderful fresh and delicious assortment of breads with chive butter. The menus was extensive, and I cannot wait to go back for a dinner sometime. German... More

We always leave with leftovers here. The portions are very generous. One definitely does not go here when on a diet. The quality is good although we aren't quite as pleased with the side dishes as the entrees. Deserts are also good and the prices fair especially given the size of the servings. I would wish they had decent homemade... More

We visited here again after about a two year span. Once again it was a hit with everyone in our party. The food was fabulous. We had six different dishes and not one person had a complaint. The portions are large and we all brought home food that we used for dinner that evening! The family style vegetables were wonderful... More

Long standing plans to meet an old friend for lunch here. Restaurant week was a bonus. Prix Fixe - 3 courses for $20. Several (tough) choices for 1st, main and dessert. Both started with the beet salad on a bed of greens - lovely. We shared the mains. Both dishes were delicious in their own way. Pork with julienne veg... More
