I wish I could eat here at least once a week because the food is that good. The schnitzel and all the sides are phenomenal (especially the corn - OMG!!) and I am a lover of Hefeweizen and theirs is top notch. The service was wonderful and the place is clean and beautiful - I love that it is part... More

Excellent German food. Huge servings. It's a bit pricey but their lunch specials are reasonably priced. Excellent homemade desserts!

Having a German blood line and having been stationed in Germany they know how to do it right with food, beer and wine. One of my favorite German dishes is pig hocks and sauerkraut. When we first went they didn't have it. At some point they started offering it as a special during certain times. I have been told that... More

Two lunch specials: one frikadollen (two large, baked meat patties, one pork & one veal, with fried egg on top, on bed of mashed potatoes and gravy); and one grilled Scottish salmon, with wild rice. Each dish was dressed with various vegetables, and also came with two vegetable sides which one chose from a list. Everything was excellent. The gravy... More

A German friend took us here for dinner. Truly authentic German food. Good and helpful service for those of us not familiar with the dishes. The sides were large and the best part of the meal. Not a lot of parking.

There is no shortage of things to do and see in this wonderful historic city, but stroll over to the train station just a few blocks off the tourist strip for some of the best food for many miles. This location and it's twin sister in Madison deliver a relaxed surrounding, excellent German food and beer, and great service. We've... More

We took a limo from Richmond area to Fredericksburg to visit the Bavarian Chef, knowing that we would be drinking so I advise the practice. Plus, you would be food drunk without the alcohol. We have been to this location as well as the Madison spot. The Fburg location has less people but reservations are highly recommended at both locations.... More

Maybe because it was about 3pm on a weekday and we didn't eat a big lunch, but after hopping off the VRE we stopped for coffee and german chocolate cake. I originally wanted a cappuccino, but their staff informed me their cappuccino machine broke so they could only serve american style coffee. Yum! It was VERY good coffee and their... More

We visited here last weekend and had an excellent meal with outstanding service. Delicious German food served by a knowledgeable and friendly staff. A nice difference here is that side dishes (5 for 4 of us!) were served "Family Style". The portions for dinner are gigantic and we all had leftovers. A truly memorable meal and one that we hope... The staff, and especially the chef, know how to do it just right. Excellent menu, great food well prepared and large portions. I can't imagine anyone walking away full. There are even some great dishes for those who might not like Bavarian/German dishes. My wife and I had a wonderful time there. We'll come back again. This was our second... More
