Really good pulled pork, (they call it sliced) cooked to perfection, very generous portions, nice Carolina sauce, but the ribs sauce was awesome! Sweet sauce not smokey, lots of choices on the sides - secret recipe cole slaw is really good! Very good meal, not much in the ambience department but the food is great! They seem to do a... More

I've eaten at Allman's off and on since 1986, and it's still my favorite BBQ joint. I use that term on purpose, because Allman's is a small town, hole in the wall kind of place with gobs of charm. The pork BBQ is excellent, the cole slaw is fantastic, the baked beans are tasty, and the milk shakes are just... More

From the outside you wonder, is it possible to have something like this still around. Enter inside and nothing has changed for over 50 years or more. Well one thing, they don't seem to enter the order by the little wire that runs along the ceiling from right front of restaurant to kitchen through hole in wall, now the order... More

After seeing the pictures of Allman's, I knew it would be great! Very authentic, like mamas kitchen.

Had seen this place a few times, and decided to stop in after reading other reviews. Overall,it was good and worth the visit. Here are my (lengthy) impressions: The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. The restaurant it about 60 years old and shows it, but not in a neglected way. The staff and very courteous and work to make... More

Trip advisor narrowed the results down between Allmans and a Kabob place. We let our son, who was the only child awake decide which one. He chose "almonds" because he thought it was a nut place. At any rate there is 7 of us so when we pulled up and saw the size of the place we were unsure if... More

Fistfights can break out about the "right" kind of barbecue --- North Carolinians, Missourians, and Texans, in particular, may have firmly held opinions. To my mind, nobody in the entire of Virginia can top Allman's plain ol' slow-cooked pork, and I'm a big fan of the pulled, which has more personality than the minced. The slaw is excellent but very... More

Small, cozy restaurant with great food. I had a pulled pork sandwich with onion rings. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful. Their BBQ sauce was unremarkable. The rolls were good and didn't look like the standard bakery hamburger bun. The onion rings were extremely good. Service was friendly and quick. I'll be back when I have the chance.

This is one of the best BBQ joints in VA. It is worth the drive. Very down home and friendly. I love the pulled pork sandwich. The ribs are also wonderful, with their own special sauce. The first time we came here, they offered several things to us to try before we ordered. They stall take the orders on paper,... More
