Delicious food, friendly service

We went here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised with how good everything is! All the food is made from scratch and delish! As much as we loved the pulled pork (so fabulous) the sides are just as good! The baked beans, onion rings, and slaw were our favorites but the creamed potatoes, mac n... read more

We were welcomed in even though we arrived only 20 minutes from close time. The staff helped us with the menu and recommended some dishes that were absolutely fabulous. My wife and I pigged out till we were full and had enough left over for a meal the next day once we got home. Totally unpretentious, the perfect local restaurant,... More

Many locals love this place and it has a reputation of having the best BBQ around. Maybe that was true many years ago but not anymore. Food was dry, bland and it feels kind of depressing in there. Given them several chances over the last 10 years and it is consistently bad.

At Allmans, BBQ connoisseurs will recognize the Eastern Carolina black pepper/vinegar based flavoring used in Allman's product. No sugary, gloppy sauce here. Their minced (chopped) product seems less fatty than whats found in the Carolina bbq belt. As noted alsewhere, this is not 5 star surroundings but it's all about the food, which is excellent. Dine in or take out.

This is an older small BBQ restaurant. The food is served fast and the menu is limited to mostly BBQ. It also has excellent BBQ and milkshakes. Staff is friendly and service is attentive. In keeping with a 1950's era restaurant, the bathrooms are outside of the restaurant and are small. I would go back and highly recommend for a... More

Not sure why a place like this doesn't slap a fresh coat of paint to it. The food is very good and service friendly. $50 make over would go a long way.

This place is exactly what it looks like, and it's so rare to find one still in existence in a major city. The walls are even decorated with images of peer businesses that have faded into antiquity. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is like old times, quaint and crowded. The tables aren't made for large groups but you... More

This place is an institution and we could see why. Great food. BBQ sauce everywhere. Generous portions. It is a hole in the wall, nothing fancy. Don't drive by.
