if you like dry tasteless meat, then this is the place to go... minced pork was not impressive and the sauces did not help much... sadly the nicely cooked fries were the best thing on the plate, crisp and flavorful, and my lady liked her milkshake... we had been meaning to stop by this spot, having passed it many times,... Crazy generous sides! Creamy old fashioned mac and cheese, baked beans with a little tang and rib meat falling off the bone! The service was quick and friendly. Be prepared for a dive but I think that's part of the charm!

Allman's in Fredericksburg is Old School Southern BBQ. Stopped in for a late lunch with my wife. Had an Order of hush puppies while waiting for our food. They were a bit under cooked, but still tasty. Had the sliced BBQ plate with two sides for $9.95. The BBQ was very good, the smoke was subtle. Mac and cheese was... More

Stopped at Allman's for the first time while passing through on the way to Richmond. It look's like an old (been there forever) BBQ joint, which is almost always the place to find good BBQ made the right way. Was not disappointed. My wife and I had the pork sandwiches which were very good. Staff was attentive, efficient and friendly.... More

If the building looks like it is from the 50s....it is, but why change perfection? The staff, the food, and the atmosphere all combine to provide an excellent dining experience. The pulled pork sandwich is one of the best I've ever had. My kids go for the milkshakes...they come out in the steel cups. The sides are generous, and haven't... More

This is a great Virginia BBQ restaurant! The sides are excellent and the ribs are pretty much the best. Get the ribs. Get the ribs! It's all affordable, too. There is take-out. The view of a major road is not at all pretty. The inside is fun, though. I pass through here on my way through to Richmond and it... More

We stopped here on the way from Williamsburg to DC; well worth the short detour. Milkshakes were fantastic, and the ribs also memorably awesome. The ladies who took care of us were knowledgable and fun, and made our visit a very enjoyable one. Green beans weren't so good - tasted like they came from a can - besides that, an... More

If you are looking for the ambiance of linen tablecloths and candlelight you won't find it here. What you will find is good down-home Virginia barbecue at reasonable price and good service. The decor is outdated and you'll have to go outside to around the back to use their restrooms. But that only adds to the charm! The coleslaw is... More

Allman's BBQ has been a Fredericksburg institution since 1954. Their location is on Rt 1 and might go unnoticed if you aren't looking for it. The interior is old, the paint is peeling and it all makes you feel like you've dropped into one of the best possible hole in the wall places. I love it! Their menu is very... More
