Does not stand out

The place is quaint, stairs access is a little sketchy for a lady in heels. The inside is dark and devoid of natural light. The tables are too close together. This is a small establishment which is great for date night with that someone special. Locally owned. Not a cookie cutter place. I believe they have a weekly menu offering good choices.

Though it takes more then your normal time to get your meal, it is well worth it. This place make all their pasta there so it's fresh. I'd say it is one of the top 3 Italian restaurants I've had the pleasure eating at. One bad note, the outside chairs are cute but not comfortable.

We went on a Sunday evening and sat outside. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed the evening. The food was above average but service was not the best. We waited quite a while for bread and had to ask multiple times for bread. We also had to ask multiple times for drink refills. To top it all off our... More

A nice, cozy, place and good value. The sauce on my pasta was AMAZING, nice and thick, good tomato flavor and rich. The pasta is homemade so a bit thicker and denser than the store bought. A good meal, super waitress, and worth a try.

We were walking around about 7pm looking for a nice place to eat. We decided to sit outside as the main downstairs room was reserved for couples eating before their prom. We ordered scallops and a great small salad. We then had a chicken parm and a scallop with squid ink , homemade pasta. The food was very good. The... More

Though not the highest of ratings, we were pleasantly surprised once we found Poppy's. Located in the lower level (basement) of a century old home, is a delightful Italian themed spot. We enjoyed very good Italian food, and a delightful setting, though cramped, what reminded us of the small restaurants in Italy. All pasta made in house with a few... More

There was an hour-long wait at Castigila's, which had been recommended to us, so we wandered around and found Poppy Hill Tuscan Kitchen instead. I don't think they were expecting it to be such a busy night because they seemed overwhelmed -- 2 waitstaff and probably not many more in the kitchen. It took a long time to get our... More

Had a nice meal with a group of friends at Poppy Hill over President's Day weekend. We were personally greeted by the owner which was a nice touch. You can tell a lot about an Italian restaurant by the quality of the olive oil on the table and theirs was very good. Highlight of the meal was their tomato basil... More

The meals are good, my favorite is the pasta and meatballs. This is not the place to have date night....it's in a basement, the staff is just ok and the owner talks to you all night.
