A friend of mine had some business in Brookline. We wanted to find something great, but casual. We found it at Matt Murphy's. When I called to make a reservation, I knew that this was a real pub - great food reviews aside. The person on the other line sounded real Irish (I'm half, and have spent a great deal... More

We went to Matt Murphy's for our wedding anniversary while staying in Brookline. We were attracted by the selection of local craft beers, and the menu which includes numerous seafood dishes. We started with an appetizer off the bar plate menu featuring salt cod and potatoes whipped with loads of butter and cream - PURE BLISS! My husband had the... More

We've been regulars at Matt Murphy's for years. It's a great local pub where they're pouring our drinks before we've even ordered. Service is especially good when Siobhan, the owner is around - she really knows how to make you feel welcome. Can be a bit more haphazard the rest of the time, and some of our friends balk at... This was the second time our family shared Sunday morning Irish breakfast. We started with bloody Mary's which were great. Most of us ordered the Irish Breakfast which included blood sausage, Irish sausage, country bacon, skinny sausages, great scrambled eggs, then along side were about 3 or 4 different grilled veggies. It's impossible to eat it all but we all... More

The shepherds pie is one of our favorites here. Lamb burger, steak and salads also stand out. All of the food is looks and tastes good. As for price, it is a little steep BUT the portions are very large and you will be taking home a doggie bag unless you are starved. Service can be a bit inattentive but... More

I came here once and they asked me if I wanted any dessert. I said no, but they brought some out anyway, free of charge. It was delicious. I felt like a king.

Dropped into Murphys during our holiday in Boston, from the start the lighting is so low it doesn't look open from the street! We sat at the bar and ordered drinks, fair choice of drinks and we were served by friendly bar man. However at this point the reality of how dark the place is hits reality and we decided... More

I have been to this place numerous times. Two weeks ago I recommended the place to my company to have a company dinner here. Bottom line is, I've brought a lot of business to this place and I was a loyal customer. But after last time I was there I will never go back. We had one other person coming... More

This place has several changes but the last was to rework the bar and tables such that its much more a restaurant than an pub. I knew the original chef that created this place's first menu and won the palates of many in the neighborhood. Since then there have been some menu changes and atmosphere changes that keep many of... A casual feel but high quality pub food. Try their pear salad and the in house gimlet. Their gigantic bread baskets with more butter than you can eat in a year (well almost)
