Wonderful Cafe

Great homestyle food and super service. We had the Rubin sandwich and it was the best I have ever had.

I have been eating at this restaurant for over sixty years. I even remember Mr. Rubin who opened it. Once it served great sandwiches and meals lovingly put together. No more. The sandwiches are served on stale bread. A chopped-liver sandwich contained a pile of chopped liver -- nothing else. No lettuce, no salad, no cole slaw side dish, nothing... More

This long standing authetic kosher restaurant is on Harvard St in Brookline. This has to be a third generation because I remember it when I was a yoingster. Everyhthing is homemade and fresh. The corned beef sandwiches are world renowned. So are the blintzes, kreplach, and the matzoh ball soup

Given that it is one of the few Kosher restaurants in the Boston area, I was eagerly anticipating a "taste of New York" and possibly a taste reminiscent of my Grandmother's kitchen. Big disappointment. Although the menu on paper is appropriate for a deli ---with the usual selection of meats, side dishes and sodas, the quality of the meal was... More

The service was terrible. The young waitress was nice, but the poor thing was running around waiting on 10 tables.. IT seems that they only had 2 waiters working that day and they seemed overwhelmed. We saw our food get ready, we recognized it, and it sat on the counter for a good 10-12 minutes before we stood up and... More

I have been going to Rubin's for at least 30 years. It is one of the few kosher restaurants in Boston. Usually I have a deli sandwich, salad or omelette, all of which are good but none of which comes close to the meal I had there tonight. It was a special-a salad with pecan encrusted chicken, lettuce and spinach,... More

I came here all the time as a kid while visiting relatives in Boston. Now that I travel to Boston on business I always stop by (I am kosher, don't have much choice). I was disappointed by the experience that I have had here in the past couple years. The food would come out cold, bread was stale, pastrami was tough,... More

Delicious, 'traditional' Kosher deli. Although the prices were a bit high, the portions were generous and good was quite tasty. We split the two knish platter for an appetizer, and enjoyed the sweet potato and meat knishes. A bit small, but tasty. My wife and I split two sandwiches, the Soho (turkey, roast beef, cole slaw and chopped liver) and... More

A great sandwich starts with real dark rye bread, blended mustards and freshly cooked pastrami. The Ruebens are my second favorite but, its so hard to only pick one. Pickels, coleslaw, old fashion sodas and the pastries make Rubin's our lunch heaven whenever we go to Brookline. Easy parking off street.

We had two meals from/at Rubin's. We ordered Shabbat dinner from Rubin's and it was delicious. We ordered the JD Brisket, Zucchini and Squash and Mashed Potatoes. Everything was amazingly delicious and the quantities were very generous! We also went to Rubin's for breakfast one morning and had the chance to enjoy the rest of their menu. Delicious meat!
