4 of us back again after 4 long years, sitting outside the small restaurant, Lebanese family owned, started in 1992, fabulous Mezze spread, same old Lebanese food, healthy veggie delights for a change, will visit again for sure! Located on Beacon Street, a nice boulevard, plenty of parking around, a beautiful neighborhood, close to Boston university. http://shawarmakingbrookline.com Order on line... More

It's basically a storefront on Beacon Street, near Coolidge Corner, the heart of Brookline. The felafel and hummus are especially good, and others rave about the shawarma, esp chicken. (I go back often but always for the felafel.) There are enough tables-- you order and get your food at the long counter, and the staff is very nice. Service is... More

No pretense, no atmosphere, but some of the best falafel around. And very good Mid-Eastern deserts too. The main courses, with lamb and qibbeh, are meh, but the falafel is first rate.

Have been here twice for dinner and got two different special platters. Each comes with the special (meat or veggie) + rice, salad, pickles and flatbread. The okra stew and eggplant moussaka are great and the portions sizable.

I was not overwhelmed by the food, but this takeout place had the nicest staff. They should get an award. One of them spent several minutes talking to me about ingredients which I appreciated. Another let me try one of their special beverage concoctions before giving me an entire cup (glad he did as I did not like it!) This... More

The shawarma was dry and hard and tasteless. The salad was old, almost fermented, shriveled. The vegetables (onions and peppers) were bland and tasteless. The worst though was the sauce. If it hadn't been slightly white, I would have said it was water. Instead of the luscious, juicy meal I was expecting, I wound up tossing three meals. The chicken... More

We stopped in to Shawarma King because it was nearby to our hotel, and it was a nice surprise. We were offered taster samples of a few of the dishes that interested us with detailed explanations of the ingredients. The food was prepared quickly, the portions were generous and the taste was great! It's not a linen table cloth, linger... More

This is one of my anchor spots....anchor in that it keeps me tied to the Boston area with a quality I can always count on. Lunch and dinner hours you can find yourself fighting for a place at a table. I like to go in off hours where I can spread out and chat with the guys behind the counter.... More

No kissing after you have your shwarma. Only eat there when my wife is out of town but look forward to it every time.

Best falafel in the area--I'd say it's tied with Rami's, though they differ a little. We love the chicken shawarma sandwich. Lamb-beef kafta is also good. The baklava is fresh and delicious. Consider calling your order in ahead of time--sometimes the wait is long, especially when big orders are called in on Saturdays at lunchtime. There is sometimes a dinner... More
