Very good suburban cuisine.

Interesting menu. Food well prepared. Service is always first rate. They were on the verge of selling to a New Haven Pizza chain but backed out. Maybe looking for a better deal. Knowing that they came close to selling makes one wonder how long they will be around for. If they go it will be a... read more

Brought some out of town friends to this local gem and no one was disappointed. The menu is great with plenty of tempting options covering everything from healthy eats to comfort food. I ordered the cod on a bed of spinach and it was delicious. Everyone else at the table was happy with their meal. The waiter was very engaging... More

A friend of ours invited us here for brunch as a highly recommended locale. When we got there, they at first acted as though they had not gotten our reservation. Our friend had made it: she had tried and tried to call on the phone, but kept getting cut off. She then used the Open Table online booking service. The... More

The Fireplace used to be my go-to restaurant in Brookline for good food/drink in a cozy atmosphere. I have to say that my opinion has changed. I made a reservation for dinner and arrived on time. We were promptly seated at a table next to the iconic fireplace, though way to cramped next to our neighbors' table. In fact, I... More

We've enjoyed The Fireplace for several years and the food quality remains high. We were disappointed to find the space more crowded than I recall from before, and the chockablock tables in the upstairs section detracted from our dining experience. Despite reservations made days in advance, we were denied what would have been a more commodious table on their lower... More

This was a tough one for me. Friends suggested we meet here for dinner and none of us had been before. The atmosphere is very nice - cozy and warm. The drinks were wonderful and there's a lot to choose from. The bartender makes an excellent Manhattan. The wine selection is plentiful. The menu has a lot to choose from... More

This restaurant used to be a standby but has been deteriorating in the quality of food and service since the fall of 2014.

I love going for lunch - salad, rolls, and wine, with friends. This is my go to place for lunch with friends.
