This was not our first visit to this usually lovely neighborhood bar/restaurant. As a matter of fact, we have always enjoyed casual meals here. However, recently, we took our two daughters after a fun day at the beach for a last hurrah before the school year began. We were all very disappointed. The kids were starving and it took quite... We ate at The Abbey last week during a visit to Boston to see our daughter, and the food and service was so first-rate, we went back again the next night. Everything...and I mean EVERTHING ...that comes out of the kitchen at the Abbey is just wonderful. The first night they offered a gnocchi special appetizer with a short rib... More

With a first glance at the menu, I didn't expect anything extraordinary. I mean the menu looks good, but it doesn't try to be overly fussy or out-there creative. Yet both my husband and I were very, very satisfied with our entree choices. We skipped appetizers and just ordered entrees - the special beef cheek enchiladas for him (delicious, tender,... More

My wife and I picked up a friend who lives in Boston and this was his recommendation [ actually his 2nd one, the first one was completely filled].My wife ordered the crab critters as an appetizer and they were delicious. We each had the Arctic Char for our entree and my wife ordered the brussel sprouts as a side dish.... More

For a weekday romantic lunch in or near Brookline, we wanted a place with definite 'atmosphere', an out-of-the-ordinary menu with excellent food, and reasonable prices. The Abbey met all our expectations and more. We began with two of the 'little plates' -- the Smoked Cod Fritters, and the Pulled Pork Spring Roll -- both wonderful, don't miss them! Then we... More

Our first night in Brookline, while wandering we stumbled on The Abbey. Great pizza. A little warm inside, decent service.

Went to dinner with my friends for my buddy's b-day. We had a large group and the waiter was very accommodating since it was a slow Tuesday night. The food and drinks were good as usually.

I've lived in Brookline for 5 years and have sampled all the neighborhood restaurants, and I'd have to give The Abbey the prize for "best all-around" restaurant in Coolidge Corner/Washington Square. The food is utterly delicious. I have never eaten anything here and said, "eh." My usual reaction is "oh yeah, that's mighty tasty." They serve a delicious burger, and... More

Friends and I stopped by The Abbey for lunch yesterday. Service seemed to be good as our server came promptly to take our food and drink orders. However it took an inordinately long amount of time for the food to finally appear. I don't understand establishments which seem understaffed on big holiday weekends like Memorial Day. The food (when it... More
