Very Nice Lunch Out On The Porch!

This past Thursday we had a very nice lunch out on the porch at Grant House. This is a beautiful historic home where we have enjoyed a couple of dinners in the past. We had made a reservation on opentable and were seated right away outside on the porch. The weather was warm and the ambiance is... read more

We had the shrimp appetizer-awful. Here's my description: the toughest shrimp I ever ate. Not a good attribute for shrimp-even if it's frozen it shouldn't be tough. The chef needs to check his/her quality before serving. We also had the turkey panini-it was ok, but nothing special. Seemed like packaged turkey. For the price would have expected more. We were... Dined here a few times. Favorite excursion was a gathering of gals for dinner. They seated us in a soft yellow room with floor to ceiling windows looking out in to the gardens. Our waitress was adept and friendly; she handled 14 separate orders w/out a hitch. And she bantered with us throughout the evening... impressive. I had a great... More

This restaurant is located in an historic building on Vancouver's Officers' Row. It was built of logs in 1850 and the only survivor of 9 log cabins built for Army officers. Ulysses S. Grant served as quartermaster at Fort Vancouver from 1852-1853. The Grant House was placed on the National Historic Register in 1974. We have actually eaten here for... More

Apparently this house was built for Ulysses S Grant , but he never actually lived in it. It's a beautiful house and works really well as a restaurant. There is an outside eating area, an extra room set back from the main dining area that has many windows overlooking the back yard. The main dining area where we ate has... More

The Grant House has large, lovely porches and a flower-enclosed back patio--glorious spaces for a summer lunch. Thumbs up on the berry crisp.

Delicious Food, Beautiful house, and great service! My mother and a friend went for a birthday lunch. We sat outside on the patio next to the garden. We had the house soup with fresh herbs from the garden outside. Our entrees were delicious. But the DESSERTS! OMG. We had cheesecake, a fruit crumble, and the bread pudding. They were each... More

I am not sure what to say. The service was as equally terrible as the food. The best way to describe our experience would be "odd." The waitress was inattentive and frigid. This isn't a a best kept secret - it's a best kept away from.

I am giving my review on happy hour since that is what we went for. It was great to sit on the front porch in the sunshine having a glass of wine and a $1.00 snack! We loved it. Just what we were looking to do on a nice afternoon out.
