This used to be our favorite spot for family get togethers and occasions. The quality is not what it once was. The salad bar is still the one constant (along with the cheese bread) - otherwise, the steaks are underseasoned and not prime cuts, the chicken riggies I ordered the prior visit were dry and it tasted like someone put... Tends to be crowded. But it's easy to find and the service is good. We got the fish fry last Friday and it was the same fish fry you get anywhere, except more expensive. The best part is the soup, salad and bread bar.

It's average. Parking OK, location easy to find. Darker and more cramped dinning than I prefer. (I'd pick the Franklin over Coalyard's - for menu and value. Coalyard's also takes a (month?) long "sabatical" during the year sometimes - so call ahead to make sure they are open.

Ate diner at Coalyard Charlie's with my wife while staying overnight in Rome. The food was good and the interior was interesting and nicely done. Service was good and food was delivered in a reasonable time.

We have eaten here several times. It provides fairly good food for the money. The best facet about the place is that they have an extensive salad bar with breads and homemade soups. It is a nice place to dine out at and enjoy food, drink, and pleasant conversation.

Try lunch, or dinner (they close in between). Nice salad bar, food always good. On your right as you drive out of Rome on Rte. 49 East.

One Fridays and Saturdays they have their Prime Rib special. Excellent Prime Rib, so unless you are determined to have the Friday Fish Fry, try the Prime Rib ... You will not be disappointed. The floor plan is kinda strange, you come in the door and walk through the dinning room to get to the hostess. Anyway, good food at... More

The bartender is great, the food is good and the place has a cool history. The menu is simple American and Italian food. The portions a large. There is not much else in this depressed town. I've found it to be very consistent. You really can't go wrong here, it certainly beats the chains.

We always order lobster and steak and it is always superb, especially for the price. The reason I didn't rate them a 5 is weak ambiance. Also, I don't like to have to get up and go to the salad bar, but that is a particular quirk of mine. Of commendation is that they frequently contribute to local Chinese auction... More
