Took a recommendation from the locals when we stopped. It was busy so there was a small delay in service, but worth the wait! Great home cooked food. A word to the wise- if you order a large serving of onion rings, be prepared for an entire platter! There were 7 in our group and there were plenty for everyone.... More

I read the reviews and was intrigued. We arrived and I began to think we had made a mistake. But honestly, it was really good. Yes, it is typical greasy diner food, but it was good. Server was nice and helpful. If you are in this area might check it out

If you had a hometown diner or burger joint in your hometown in the " 50s " or wonder what it was like, you can step right into that world ( again) at this cafe. It 's just about 4 times bigger now is the main difference. The burgers with grilled onions and buns haven't changed in over 60 years.... More

Party of 7 came in out of the rain to have breakfast before leaving town. We all had breakfast food at 9am. Hash browns were nicely browned, bacon was crispy and over easy eggs we're cooked to order. Biscuits and sausage were delicious. Waitress took orders efficiently and remembered everything! Coffee and tea were quickly replenished. Service was friendly and... More

A recent visit to Ft Scott, on a very hot August day, enabled us to dine at the Nu Grille Cafe. Upon arriving at half past 12, the restaurant was very busy with folks in a variety of garb, overalls and work shirts as well as suits and ties. We found two empty spaces at the counter where the smiling... More

If you want a quick home cooked meal with large portions; this is the place. Very close to Old Ft. Scott Museum. You won't be disappointed. Onion rings are fantastic. They were freshly cut, battered and you get a half plate full with the cheeseburger.

This is a great place for breakfast. Just a small town type atmosphere. They had big portions. All the locals seem to go here.

When I was growing up, two local places served broasted chicken as does this place and it was delicious as is the Nu Grille! Instead of broasted potatoes you have several choices and my baked potato was huge, buttery, and wonderful. The 'combination salad' had to have Thousand Island dressing to complete my trip down memory lane. My friend and... More

We stopped after reading the reviews here and had a great lunch on the way home from vacation. Delicious burgers and basket of fried goodies in the sampler platter! Very friendly servers, and friendly atmosphere for our 8 mo. old, though no changing station for him. Already looking for an excuse to head back to that part of the state... More
