While Alligator Soul is not a vegetarian restaurant, the owner, Maureen and her chef, Chris, ensure that vegetarians are well taken care of at their restaurant. If you are a vegetarian, order a beautifully prepared entree called "Veggies Fear Not," and trust Chris to prepare for you the best vegeterian meal you have ever eaten. If that weren't enough, the... more

My wife and I stayed at a B&B last weekend for our 5th anniversity and were chatting with some of the other guests at breakfast about where to eat (or more importantly where not to). They were blown away the night before, so that was an easy one. We had one of the top meals of the year! My wife,... more

My husband and I were on the fence about where to eat on our last day in Savannah. We decided on Alligator Soul over the Pink House (though I heard only great things about this place too). We arrived and were greated by Jason who was also our waiter. We could not have had a more enjoyable experience. No remembered... more

The other night my husband and I ventured downtown for a long overdue return trip to Alligator Soul for dinner before attending a lecture. We didn't want to overeat, so we ordered an appetizer, Gumbo Back Baby, and a delicious house salad, which we shared. The gumbo was riddled with intense flavor, and the portion was quite generous. The salad... more

Ambiance is very nice in the main section, the smaller side area with tables for 2 isn't very attractive. The salad was excellent, the shrimp and grits divine. Great presentation and wonderful food. Expect to pay $100 plus with drinks but the food is well worth it for the price range. Try the beer sampler. ( 4 different beers, 5... more

Make a reservation if Friday or Saturday night. We showed up Saturday night just to see if there was a chance of getting in, and to our surprise someone had cancelled their reservation. The hostess was extremely nice, showed us to our table and from that point we were spoiled. The fried green tomatoes were out of this world, especially... more

We were hesitant to jump in given reviews with descriptions like "redneck" but this restaurant could not be further from that descrption. Sophisticated, elegant yet casual and comfortable. Perfect. The chef's special vegetarian dish was likely the best. Although the chicken beignet was way beyond expectation. Amazing. more

Our dishes were as good or better than anything in New Orleans! -- my bar of excellence for food quality. And I left my sunglasses and the staff e mailed me to come retrieve them. I was so impressed by their personal service -- in addition to the awesome food. more

The food here was very good. We were there on a weekday so maybe the scene heats up but it was very quiet and a little underwhelming. more

This has become one of my favorite restaurants of all time. The food is fresh and they chose local ingredients when available. The shrimp and grits are to die for. The staff are both professional and warm and friendly. I enjoyed it so much, I returned for my last night night in Savannah, my waitress remember me and details about... more
