Went to Johnny Harris last night with a party of about 15. I ordered the BBQ plate. It was swimming in BBQ sauce. As I started to eat I understood why. The meat was hard and dry. The wait staff was very attentive to our group but I had a problem when I saw the bill. They had add a... more

I've lived in Savannah for almost three years and just made my first and last visit to Johnny Harris. For some locals this is considered a special occasion restaurant probably due tot he pricing and the fact that it has been around for 85 years. I also see their BBQ sauce in all the grocery stores and driving by most... more

the waitstaff etc were great the maitre'd was one of the rudest people I have met in ages. May 2009 you are not the only restaurant in the world and you were not busy and we asked to seat 12-15 at YOUR leisure.. the room was empty except for one table of about 15-20. this place has been around for... more

If you are driving out to Tybee or Bonadventure Cemetary...make a stop here! It is on the way. This was the last day of our trip and I had not had real Southern BBQ yet, so I told my mom I wanted to stop. I don't think she was that thrilled as we had a lot of heavy food all... more

We have been traveling to Savannah for several years; we loved Mrs. Wilkes when you could go to the back and get take-out which is no longer available. Wanting to have some southern fried chicken and not wait in line for over an hour, we decided to try Johnny Harris for lunch. The fried chicken was excellent, the sides were... more

While we were in Savannah for a music conference and to check out local real estate, our Realtor highly recommended we try out Johnny Harris' for traditional Southern fare. She raved about the restaurant's speciality - fried chicken - which was just what my husband was looking for so we decided to give it a try, and invited another friend... more

If you have been around the block and visited many of the great restaurants in Savannah, please take my advice and do not pull in to Johnny Harris Restaurant, speed up, even if it cost's you getting a speeding ticket. The speeding tickets won't superseed your doctor's bills or deductibles. Trust my advice, it's in your best interest. Traditionally like... more

Old Savannah tradition and frequented by locals but nothing to write home about unless you have old family ties to the town - a little dated and a bit dark but their chicken is good - just not exceptional. more

Love this old place along with the history. Down the street from Grayson Stadium minor league park. BBQ is good and southern hospitality from the wait staff is even better. A must place to go. more
