We passed this up on our first walk down river walk because the building looked pretty rough and the people outside seemed a little questionable. I really wanted some cajun food, so we decided to go inside and see what we thought. Once inside the waitress met us with a big smile and friendly demeanor and the inside was old... More

I went in with my family and ordered a Reuben Sandwich. They waited about 20 minutes before informing me they were out, and so i ordered a WELL DONE burger. Well, I get my burger and it's half rare half done. I sent it back ill because my family had already started eating and got the same burger back still... More

This was one heck of a place. Perfect bar theme and personality to me. Me and my wife loved it here. The food was amazing. So good we had to order doubles of what we got. Crawfish and fried oysters. Yummy yummy yummy. ..:))) I so highly recomemd it if you are in Savannah.

This is a little place that has wonderful Cajun style food. We returned after having a not so good experience because it was always so good. They have corrected what was wrong. Happy to say it is back to fantastic. Cant wait to go back again.

We had a bit of trouble finding the place, but we sure were glad we did! We enjoyed the gumbo and the seafood scampi. We're not ones for the bar atmosphere, but we were looking for an affordable, casual, and delicious meal to cap off our sightseeing at River Street.

The fried oysters, homemade chips and jambalaya were yummy! Definitely try the hot sauce, I bought two bottles to take home! They even had a great grilled cheese. The employees were warm, helpful, and shared good local advice.

We had the sampler, which is a cup of three different house specialties. The jambalaya and lhe red beans and rice are particularly good, both have a nice spicy bite to them. The waitress can hold her own, too, which always adds to the dining experience!

A true hidden gem. Looks like a dive and hole in the wall. But WOW!! The most amazing food I must say on River Street. It did kind of suck the gumbo wasn't ready at lunch time. Will be back to grab a beer and a bowl of gumbo

Very good food, good service and a nice atmosphere for the kind of place it is - very casual. We were staying at the River Street Inn and we could see the Bayou Cafe from a side window in our room. It was just a short walk across the alley and we were curious to try it. We were not... More
